About the Team:

This position will be mentoring and supporting all actuarial Rate and Rating Rule regulatory compliance filings for Corporate Solutions North America.  This includes mentoring and supporting the globally located Actuarial Services Unit (ASU) staff located in Bangalore.  This position includes oversite, analyze, interpret and communicate the calculation of annual by state by line of business rate indication analysis, rate implementations and impact calculations.  Manage the implementation of regulatory auditing of CorSo policy rating systems, including new system builds.  In collaboration with the CorSo pricing actuarial team, drive special projects in support of actuarial pricing and analysis for all teams by providing actuarial support around rate adequacy of factors such as LCMs, trends, etc.  Supporting rate pricing initiatives through the rating plan by providing analytics around performance drivers.


About the Role:

  • Manage the rate and rate rule filings and rating factor adjustments.
  • Mentor and support ASU Bangalore staff workload located in India, providing guidance and solutions on all ASU projects and deliverables.
  • Oversee database creation and generic filing template update.
  • Negotiate with DOI's and coordinate with pricing actuaries on rate objection responses to filings.
  • Lead rate filing pending calls and communicate to key stakeholders such as I.T., U/W, Products, etc. on rate filings.
  • Develop and use in-depth knowledge of internal and external data sources, analytical tools, and actuarial methods to enhance rate filing tools.
  • Provide contributions to CorSo strategic initiatives and new products.
  • Implement and manage the compliance rate audit process for all business units in CorSo NA region including new products/platforms.
  • Drive special projects from Pricing Actuarial Department.
  • Represent the company at industry meetings.
  • Other responsibilities as required.


About You:

  • Minimum five years of work experience related to actuarial activities.
  • Interest in taking exams with the Casualty Actuarial Society or other appropriate industry insurance exams.
  • Insurance designation in either CAS or CPCU desired.
  • Excellent computer skills – EXCEL, ACCESS, Word, Visual Basic, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook, Micro Soft Power BI
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate skillfully and successfully.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to lead globally located team(s).
  • College degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science preferred.
  • Motivated individual who can think critically, analytically, and proactively under deadlines.
  • The individual will be expected to make recommendations on rate filings, individual state/territories rate actions, and overall portfolio changes as applicable.  The individual will be expected to communicate these recommendations to the pricing actuaries and possibly communicate these decisions to the business leaders and product heads.  
  • Support the Senior Actuaries or team leader in reviewing and managing workload of ASU offshore Bangalore (currently 7 FTE) and Outsourced Genpact resources (currently 5 FTE).
  • Domestic and International travel as required.
