Claims Specialist, US Agents Professional Liability

Are you a Claims Professional with 5+ years of experience in multiple lines and an interest in career development? If so, this role may be for you! About the Role 

This role has responsibility for handling US Insurance Agents Fast Track Professional Liability claims. You will manage a caseload of claims from receipt to final resolution and direct independent adjusters, appraisers, experts and defense counsel. A background in handling auto, homeowners and property claims is a plus. This is a hybrid position (three days in office) located in Kansas City, Chicago or New York.

Additional key responsibilities include: 

• Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution. 

• Analyze claim all claim related issues, including coverage, liability and damages, and appropriately document the claim file. 

• Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves. 

• Formulate and execute negotiation and resolution strategies.  

• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.

The FinPro team is comprised of four units across the United States and Canada. About You 

You are a self-motivated and a confident decision maker. You are organized, efficient and can work well both independently and as part of a team. You are comfortable interacting directly with insureds, outside adjusters, and attorneys. 

• Hold bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A law degree is preferred but not required.

• Have 5+ years claims handling experience in one of the following areas: professional liability, auto, property, and/or homeowner claims. 

• Possess solid coverage and liability  assessment, damage investigation, claim evaluation and resolution skills.

• Possess excellent customer service skills and strong people skills.

• Experience with handling claims in a paperless environment. 

• Possess, or willing to obtain, adjuster licenses as needed for various jurisdictions. 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $84,000 to $150,000.  The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions.
