About The Role

Exciting opportunity to join Swiss Re as a Regulatory Compliance Specialist in our Kansas City, MO office (will consider other locations for the right candidate).  This role will help support form and rating filing needs as well as a wide variety of other compliance related activities for the various insurance lines offered by Corporate Solutions; ensuring our companies comply with all laws, regulations and industry best practices.  Explore process improvements and look to implement new products in this fast paced environment, all while adhering to state regulations.

 

About the Team

 

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

  • Manage the development and submission of state rate, rule and forms filings commensurate with business objectives and in compliance with regulatory requirements. 

  • Provide direction and support to the business units throughout the development and preparation of filing materials.  In conjunction with business units, determine the overall filing strategy.  Assist, as needed, with the creation of forms and rules.  Coordinate interaction with business unit underwriters, legal and other areas to assure appropriate individuals are involved and kept updated during the course of a filing.

  • Manage and coordinate the communication and negotiation of filings with state insurance departments in a manner that will result in timely approval of company products. 

  • Apply problem-solving techniques to assist business unit personnel when responding to regulatory compliance issues.

  • Notify Implementation team of changes to forms impacting policy issuance systems as a result of the changes to and/or introduction of new products.

  • Respond to internal customer inquiries concerning items such as advance notice requirements, cancellation/non-renewal requirements, filing laws and other product compliance issues.

  • Ensure RFF tracking system is updated and accurate with current regulatory compliant product filing information.

  • Complete assigned or DOI requested state regulatory reports.

  • Review and analyze state insurance department statues, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine impact and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirements.  Stay current on changes and developments that impact insurance design and development. 

  • Manage, review and analyze ISO Circulars, determine impact to internal products and provide notification/explanation to business of changes.

  • Develop and maintain extensive personal contacts with state insurance department staff.  Represent the company at industry meetings. 

  • Perform other related duties, including short or long term projects, as assigned by senior staff.

  • Analyze and interpret Department of insurance regulatory laws for development of compliant policies and implementation into policy issuance systems

  • Responsible for policy issuance systems' filing compliance support as assigned.

 

About You

 

Qualifications/Requirements:
• BA/BS
• Insurance Designation preferred (CPCU, IIA, ASF, CSF).
• At least 5 years' experience in insurance (Accident & Health experience preferred) rate and form filing, underwriting or state regulatory authorities.
• Experience working with Bureau Circulars (i.e. ISO, AAIS, etc.)
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate skillfully and successfully
• Demonstrated independent problem solving and regulatory interpretation skills impacting company product compliance
• Solid research, project management, organizational and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated capacity to effectively interact with multiple levels of staff and state regulatory authorities.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a team setting.
• Ability to work in globally located team situations
• Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a matrix environment
• Ability to work independently and in conjunction with others
