Actuarial Analyst

The job holder will be under the lead of the Head of Reserving P&C SID and China supporting both the Vice Presidents in the preparation of local and group reserves for Asian markets excluding Japan.

 

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the completion quarterly and annual valuations (statutory, US GAAP and IFRS17 bases) on assigned portfolios, for sign off purposes (key output: quarterly reserve reports and relevant local branch reporting) and be responsible for the valuation output to be prepared for the reviewing actuary
  • Assist in Transaction and Special Deal reserving.
  • Assist in the preparation of the related analyses and documentation of the quarterly reserving process including the Business Unit Reserving Committee (BRC) meetings
  • Support Actuarial & Reserving P&C Asia team's responsibility as a key input provider for business steering via operational and experience feedback on portfolios highlighting areas for improvement
  • Assist in the preparation all local statutory reserving and reporting requirements of the regulators in the Swiss Re Asia P&C branches as assigned
  • Establish and maintain a network of relationships with other internal partner functions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local actuarial and industry associations
  • Work with regulators and internal/external auditors on routine and special matters

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in a Property & Casualty environment (insurance/reinsurance)
  • University degree in actuarial science or related field (mathematics or finance)
  • Actuarial trainee actively pursuing fellowship qualification with a recognised Actuarial professional body (eg. Australia, UK, USA, Canada)
  • Analytical skills, and the ability to handle both conceptual and practical issues
  • Experienced in providing actuarial advice and support for specific lines of business reserves' results
  • Strong knowledge of standard IT software (Excel, etc)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly across different cultures (Asian diversity) and different functions (eg underwriting, finance, claims)
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks accordingly
