Experience Studies Analyst (L&H)

About the Team

 

We are the L&H Experience Studies Centre (ES Centre), part of L&H Pricing & Portfolio Performance (PPP) within the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO). PPP brings together pricing expertise and portfolio oversight to support effective risk management, sustainable profitability, and strong performance across both new business and in-force portfolios. 

 

The ES Centre acts as an in-house Experience Studies global solutions provider, delivering the platforms, tools, methodologies, and expertise that support the production of Experience Studies for traditional L&H business globally. Through the development and continuous enhancement of the Experience Studies Platform (ESP), we enable teams worldwide to perform efficient, consistent, and high-quality Experience Studies. 

 

 

 

About the Role

 

This is a junior role for someone who is curious, proactive, and keen to learn. With guidance and on-the-job training, you will help develop and improve analytical tools, platforms, and methodologies that support Experience Studies across L&H. You will gain hands-on experience in actuarial analysis, R programming, platform testing, reporting, and user support while working with actuarial and technology colleagues globally. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Actuarial Analytics and Tool Development 

  • Apply actuarial concepts and programming skills to build reusable analytical solutions, primarily in R. 

  • Test new platform features and contribute ideas that improve the user experience and solution quality. 

  • Explore opportunities to automate processes and introduce emerging analytical techniques and best practices. 

 

Experience Studies Operational Analytics 

  • Deliver meaningful operational insights that help leaders understand Experience Studies activity, demand patterns, resource utilisation, and service performance. 

  • Build and enhance interactive dashboards and visualisations that enable stakeholders to monitor performance and make informed decisions. 

  • Investigate data anomalies, reporting challenges, and workflow bottlenecks, driving improvements in data quality and KPI reliability.

 

 Global Collaboration 

  • Work alongside actuaries, technology specialists, and stakeholders across different markets to shape the future of the Experience Studies Platform. 

  • Gain exposure to how actuarial analysis is delivered at scale across a global organisation. 

 

Learning and Knowledge Sharing 

  • Create engaging learning materials on experience studies, actuarial methodologies, and the common R calculation engine. 

  • Share knowledge with actuaries and experience studies practitioners around the world. 

  • Support platform users, solve practical problems, and turn their feedback into meaningful improvements. 

 

 

 

About You

 

Essential 

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and work with data.  

  • Interest or experience in actuarial analysis, data, technology, and programming.  

  • Proactive, curious, and willing to learn new concepts and skills. 

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. 

  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global team environment. 

  • Takes ownership of assigned tasks and follows through on commitments. 

 

Desirable 

  • Exposure to R or another programming language. 

  • Knowledge of data visualisation, dashboards, or analytical tools. 

  • Understanding of Life & Health insurance products, actuarial concepts, or experience studies. 

  • Experience with automation, data quality analysis, or reporting.  

  • Interest in developing training materials, sharing knowledge, and supporting users.
