Underwriting Associate Trade Finance
About the Role
You have made first experience in transaction administration and client servicing in finance area, possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy direct client contact?
This might be your next challenge:
You will be responsible to support underwriters in trade finance. This includes the timely and accurate handling of client requests and inquiries, as well as the preforming initial screening of standardized trade finance transactions, support by some underwriting tasks such as drafting of underwriting memos and credit committee proposals.
In particular your responsibilities will include the following:
- Closely interact and coordinate with internal stakeholders in Operations and Underwriting located in various regions and markets, as well as with external stakeholders such as clients, brokers
- Process and administer client inquire in systems and tools, including performing initial screening of trade finance transactions and issuing of documents administration throughout their entire lifecycle

Support the underwriting and renewal processes in data quality check, prepare policies and other documents, such as risk agreement.

Coordinate with other team members globally to ensure client service to our global trade finance clients.

Analyze and identify premium and fee discrepancies and determine appropriate adjustment measures.

Our team is continuously improving and evolving the Operating Model and is striving to standardize and improve the processes.

Education
- Completed commercial education preferably banking specialist or bachelor studies in economics or law
- Associates Degree or job experience equivalent
Relevant professional experience
- You have obtained first experience in bank or insurance area.
- It is a plus if you have experience with credit insurance product or trade finance transaction processing
- Previous experience in client facing role preferably in finance environment.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of trade finance and guarantee business
- Basic knowledge on sanctions and AML procedures, commercial and company law, UCP600, URDG758
Linguistics
- Proficiency in English language, reading, written and verbal, is a must.
- Additional languages are a plus
Technical Competencies
- Demonstrate good computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office especially excel. SWIFT messages for documentary business a plus
- Demonstrate competency in intermediate level math, administrative and clerical procedures including handling files and records, general economic and accounting principles, and processes for providing customer service
- Excellent reading comprehension, verbal and written.
- Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, seminars, and programs to learn about new processes and guidelines, learn new skills, and stay updated with the team supported.
