Actuarial Analyst - temporary contract (8 months)

About the Role 

 

Your primary responsibility is to support building and enhancing valuation tools in Power BI. You will work with actuaries to understand their needs for financial reporting and risk management. As part of the global valuation team, we create global standard reporting tools that are used by Swiss Re Life & Health valuation actuaries across the globe. Such tools include not only analytical tools on cashflows and reserves, but also a dashboard type of reports that provides key performance indicators (KPIs) to support senior management in making informed decisions. You will be supporting more senior actuaries in the team to develop such tools, partnering with the IT team.

Key Responsibilities

    Author or support the creation of Business Requirements Document - You will work closely with valuation and project actuaries to understand their requirements. Which then need translating into clear and detailed business requirements that will serve as the foundation for IT teams to design and develop innovative solutions in Power BI.

    Testing of changes – Each change needs reviewing and potentially more detailed testing depending on the content. This involves thinking through how the reports are intended to be used to identify key 'test scenarios' which will then be evaluated to ensure the end product is fit for purpose and ready to be deployed to the production valuation processes.

    Ad-hoc support and training on MSBI – As you gain experience and knowledge on MSBI and wider system and tool landscape, you will be expected to assist with ad-hoc queries and help spread that knowledge both within and outside the team. 

  

About the Team 

 

Actuarial Operations and Solutions (AOS) plans, builds, operates, and improves Swiss Re's global systems and processes for Life & Health business. We own and operate Swiss Re's largest application and database which is used by regional valuation teams, Finance, Portfolio Management, Risk Management, and other business-steering departments.  We comprehend business challenges in order to provide solutions and make strategic decisions that will help the valuation landscape in preparing for the future by launching or supporting projects.  We have about 15 team members spread across the globe, including Toronto, Armonk, Bangalore, London, and Zurich.  Our strengths stem from the diverse backgrounds and skills of our team members including actuarial (pricing, valuation, AXIS modelling, product development, risk management), testing, information technology, and project management.

We would like you to have:

    A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field, either in progress or recently completed.Exposure to Power BI  (preferred)

    Some progress in actuarial exams (preferred).
