We are looking for highly motivated graduates with strong interpersonal and analytical skills, who are eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and expertise. About the Role

 

We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our Casualty Treaty Underwriting team in London.

 

Our team is mainly responsible for underwriting renewal and new business, predominantly in the UK/Ireland and in the International business segment, with Motor being the principle focus, but Liability and other Casualty lines of business being part of the remit too.

 

Your role will involve the following:

  • Evaluating and underwriting risks in accordance with company guidelines and standards.

  • Delivering results and monitoring performance in line with the business plan.

  • Supporting Client Markets and other functions in the development and communication of Casualty business.

  • Contributing to group Casualty strategy and initiatives.

  • Participating in meetings with brokers and clients, and with other departments within Swiss Re.

  • Being a point of reference on technical issues and market trends for internal and external clients.

About the Team

 

We are a team of 8 Casualty Treaty Underwriters looking after London Market business, which comprises Domestic UK and Ireland and some of International Business written out of London and Bermuda. We consider ourselves a very dynamic team with loads of energy. While we work closely together with one another and our colleagues from other functions, the team embraces the flexibility that Swiss Re provides when it comes to the way we work.

 

About You

 

  • Successfully completed university degree, preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Economics, Law or equivalent

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture

  • Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance

  • Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, a fast learner

  • Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative

  • Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the team result and team spirit

  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment

  • Proven expertise to work independently and proactively

  • Excellent oral and written English skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word): programming language capabilities advantageous

  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
