About the Financial Markets Program 

 

Selected candidates will join an elite track: the Financial Markets Programme (FMP), which is Swiss Re Asset Management's flagship rotational programme for early-career analysts who aspire to build a long-term career in investing across markets, asset classes, and real-world risks.   

If you’re interested in investments, insurance may not be the first industry that comes to mind, but it should be. At Swiss Re, our investment work is central to how we create value and keep our promises to clients. We manage a large, sophisticated portfolio designed to generate investment income and match the different risks we take across Life and Health, Property and Casualty, Specialty lines and global currencies. 

You will rotate across several investment teams spanning public and private markets, gaining first-hand experience across the investment lifecycle. Working alongside experienced investment professionals, you will analyse markets, contribute to investment decisions and help solve real business challenges from day one. 
 
Alongside your rotations, you will benefit from structured training, mentoring, exposure to senior leaders and support towards the CFA qualification. By the end of the programme, you will have developed a broad understanding of institutional investing, built a strong internal network, and established the foundation for a specialised career within Swiss Re Asset Management.  

 

 

About the Role  

 

As an Investment Analyst in the FMP, you will develop a 360° view of investment management within insurance while contributing across the investment value chain. Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Rotate through 3-4 investment teams (e.g. Private Debt, Public Fixed Income, Rates, Insurance Linked Securities) for at least 18 months 

  • Analyse financial markets and investment opportunities to support investment decisions   

  • Assess portfolio performance, risk exposures and macroeconomic developments   

  • Contribute to investment strategy, portfolio construction and capital allocation decisions   

  • Support due diligence, investment recommendations and transaction execution   

  • Prepare materials for investment committees and senior stakeholders   

  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that improve investment processes and innovation   

  • Apply data, quantitative tools and emerging technologies to enhance investment analysis   

  • Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders   

 

You’ll follow a development plan tailored to your strengths, with structured feedback and visibility across Swiss Re Asset Management.

About You

 

We are looking for people who:  

  • Have completed, or are about to complete, a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or another quantitative discipline; relevant master’s or doctoral degrees may also be considered 

  • Have no more than three years of professional experience   

  • Are intellectually curious about financial markets and the global economy, with the drive to learn quickly, challenge your thinking, and apply new concepts to real work 

  • Have demonstrated academic rigor through course selection and performance; a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 is expected   

  • Think analytically, solve complex problems and enjoy working with data   

  • Are self-reflective, seek feedback, and apply it to keep growing 

  • Build strong relationships and adapt your style to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures 

  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences   

  • Take ownership and demonstrate integrity, sound judgment and attention to detail   

  • Use Excel and other analytical tools to generate insights from data 

  • Have familiarity with tools such as Python, SQL, VBA, Bloomberg or Power BI 

  • Are experienced using AI tools and curious about how they can enhance analysis and make work more efficient 

 

 

Compensation & Work Model   

 

The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process.  

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
