L&H Valuation Actuary (80 - 100%)

We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join the L&H Valuation & Analysis team, responsible of the European markets. This role would offer you endless growth opportunities given the multiple markets and products you will be responsible for.  

 

About the Role

 

In this role, you will focus on the financial reporting of our in-force portfolio, and drive improvements to the balance sheet, by creating new models, performing experience studies and developing new tools by using the latest technology.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Delivering quality reserve and income statement submissions for internal and external reporting across different basis (IFRS17, local and Swiss statutory, etc.)

  • Developing a sound understanding of the underlying risks on the balance sheet and using this knowledge to facilitate proactive management of the in-force portfolio.

  • Applying actuarial judgement to challenging or subjective areas of the work done within the wider team, such as valuation assumption setting.

  • Developing creative and pragmatic solutions to continuously improve our processes.

  • Being a key member of the cross-functional teams by working closely with other functions, including Finance, Products, Portfolio Management and more.

  • Providing support to more junior team members as required.

 

About the Team

 

The L&H Valuation & Analysis Team is a dynamic and passionate team, made up of around 30 people located in London, Zurich and Bangalore. We are responsible of the quality of the financial results which need to be communicated to a wide range of stakeholders. We are dedicated in driving continuous improvement to our processes and influencing the practices on a global level.

 

About You

 

You've got strong interpersonal skills and you're curious – always asking questions and searching for solutions. You are self-motivated and you can communicate their thoughts clearly and effectively. We are also looking for individuals who have:

 

  • 3+ years of relevant working experience

  • University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science

  • Qualified actuary or partly qualified actuary with good progress made towards the qualification  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Ability to manage your own workload and prioritize accordingly

  • Ability to drive your own projects and engage the appropriate stakeholders

  • Strong desire for continuous growth and development

 

Nice to Haves:

 

  • Familiarity with the range of Life & Health insurance products written in EMEA markets

  • Experience in modelling and IFRS-17 reporting practices

  • Expertise in actuarial or statistical software #LI-Hybrid
