This role offers you the opportunity to combine your legal expertise with commercial acumen to drive excellence in contract governance.

About the Role

  • Independent Legal Accountability - Act as the legally qualified sign-off authority for complex and high-value reinsurance contracts, providing definitive legal interpretation under applicable law.

  • Complex Contract Structuring - Lead the structuring and negotiation of legally complex, multi-jurisdictional reinsurance agreements while identifying and mitigating legal and regulatory risks.

  • Regulatory Governance - Own alignment of contract wordings with applicable UK and international regulatory frameworks and develop contract governance standards.

  • Strategic Market Representation - Represent Swiss Re in external market forums, industry associations, and regulatory discussions, influencing market-standard contract language.

  • Functional Leadership - Provide expert legal mentorship and technical oversight to junior team members while acting as an escalation point for complex matters.

  • Technology Transformation - Provide senior legal input into contracts technology infrastructure and translate legal requirements into guidance for digital contracting tools.

With strong communication skills, you can influence senior stakeholders and represent the organisation externally with confidence and authority. You're passionate about mentoring others and contributing to team development.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Fully qualified England & Wales lawyer with 5+ years' experience either within a re/insurance company or in private practice specializing in re/insurance

  • Proven experience handling multi-jurisdictional legal matters and high-value, complex transactions
