Senior Risk Manager EMEA with Underwriting Background (80 - 100%)

In this role as Senior Risk Manager EMEA you will provide oversight over all risk-taking activities for Corporate Solutions in the EMEA region, including the legal entity Swiss Re International. Further, you will work closely with stakeholders in Corporate Solutions and the Group to help avoid surprises and support a culture which promotes curiosity and risk awareness to challenge risks from every angle.

 

Your responsibilities include:

 

  • Effective contributions to high quality and timely risk assessments and risk reports for senior management, legal entity committees and the board.
  • Provide high-value risk updates, advice and steer in your role as Key Function Holder for Risk Management in the UK Branch. This includes producing the annual Own Risk Self-Assessment (ORSA) report, liaising with the UK regulator and representing Risk Management as a member of the Branch Management Committee.
  • Management Team member of selected EMEA branches representing the Risk Management function in a holistic way. This includes providing risk updates, steer and advice with respect to business and operational risks.
  • Oversight over underwriting activities and portfolio steering in selected P&C lines of business
  • Oversight over selected risk and control frameworks, focussing on operational risk.
  • Provide ad-hoc and independent risk assessments in relation to large transactions, new initiatives, and products.
  • Build and maintain high quality relationships with internal business partners across the EMEA region.

The EMEA Risk Management team is a small and dynamic team of expert risk managers that maintains responsibility for the oversight of risks across the region.

 

About you


An ideal candidate has good analytical and conceptual skills, is used to balancing multiple tasks and to evaluating priorities and is able to quickly grasp complex topics and connecting the dots. You have a convincing and persistent personality, good communication and interpersonal skills and are focused on effective and efficient delivery of work products.

 

  • You have > 5 years of experience in P&C insurance underwriting and you have the ability to identify, challenge and explain quantitative developments
  • Knowledge of solvency regimes and/or economic valuations is an advantage
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English)
