Risk Manager EMEA - P&C (Hybrid; 80-100%; m/f/x/d)
We are offering a unique opportunity to join the P&C Re EMEA Risk Management team, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of Swiss Re Europe and Head of P&C EMEA Risk Management in Luxembourg and work closely with the CRO of SRE UK Branch. In this role, you will contribute to the risk oversight of EMEA P&C Market Units, working on a broad range of underwriting and business risks.
About the Role
As Risk Manager EMEA, you will play a pivotal role in the risk oversight of EMEA P&C Market Units, working on a broad range of underwriting and business risks. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of Swiss Re Europe and Head of P&C EMEA Risk Management, and working closely with the CRO of SRE UK Branch, you will gain unparalleled exposure to Swiss Re's global risk landscape. This role is part of Swiss Re's NEXT journey — offering access to high-impact initiatives, senior stakeholders, and real opportunities to shape the future of risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Portfolio Oversight
- Evaluate the P&C Re EMEA underwriting strategy at portfolio level and contribute to the global risk view on business strategy
- Review the execution of strategic plans across EMEA, considering regulatory, geopolitical, and market trends
Transaction & Risk Reviews
- Assess large and complex P&C transactions in EMEA from both quantitative and qualitative risk angles, influencing decisions at business unit and legal entity levels
- Lead or contribute to insurance risk reviews for specific EMEA markets or cross-cutting topics in collaboration with other risk teams
- Contribute to the review of material L&H transactions underwritten by Swiss Re Europe and its branches
Operational Risk
- Support the identification and mitigation of operational risks related to underwriting activities
Risk Communication
- Drive impactful internal and external risk communication at Swiss Re Europe and P&C Re Risk Management level
- Bring forward new risk insights based on market developments and ongoing interactions with internal partners
Collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues across Risk Management to ensure consistency, efficiency, and to leverage the full available expertise
- Interact with underwriters, client underwriters, and develop and maintain trusted relationships with Key Risk Takers in P&C Re EMEA (e.g. Market Heads)
- Contribute to and drive risk management activities, strategic initiatives, and projects globally

- P&C (Re)insurance expertise: Solid experience in underwriting or pricing within P&C (re)insurance, with the ability to assess complex transactions from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives
- Analytical excellence: Proven ability to simplify complex issues, identify and prioritise material risks, and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations
- Challenge mindset: Comfortable giving constructive feedback and acting as a respected challenger.

For Luxembourg, the base salary range for this position is between 71,000 EUR and 119,000 EUR for a full-time role.
