Application Engineer - Hybrid

As the Application Engineer, you'll support and resolve identity and access-related issues, onboard and offboard customers, and work on innovative projects to streamline our daily conduct of business. What's more, you'll be working in a hybrid setup, perfectly balancing work from home and the office. 


About the team 
The Security Team is the focal point for all security activities across Swiss Re. We are responsible for engineering and operations, corporate security, governance, operational resilience, risk and compliance. We define and advance the company's security strategy. As a part of the Security Team, Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) manages user accounts and access rights for our customers. We're looking for an engineer to perform technical operations and fulfil customer requests and help to improve our processes and automation overall. 



In your role, you will… 

  • Carry out requests for user registration, managing user profiles, application registrations and access roles 
  • Maintain configuration of authentication and authorisation services 
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation 
  • Optionally, participate in developing and maintaining Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and Infrastructure-as-Code automation 


 Note: This position may require participation in on-call rotations to address urgent matters outside of regular working hours. 


Your qualifications

What we need from you 

  • Experience in application operations, system administration, or comparable technical admin work in complex corporate environments 
  • Prior experience in Identity and Access Management or a related field 
  • The ability to communicate with a broad spectrum of stakeholders effectively – from software developers to client managers 
  • A high level of integrity, result-oriented approach, and composure under pressure 
  • Strong communication, influencing, and collaboration skills  




  • Understanding of customer identity life cycle management 
  • Understanding of authentication and authorisation protocols and frameworks (such as OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect) 
  • Experience with IAM tools and platforms (e.g., Okta, Ping Identity, ForgeRock, SailPoint) and their integration with other applications and systems 
  • Proficiency in programming languages and/or scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell) 
  • Experience in Azure or other cloud platforms 
  • Experience in agile methods (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira)
