Engineering Programme Delivery Director (Hybrid)

About the Role 

As Engineering Programme Delivery Director, you'll be at the forefront of modernizing Swiss Re's development practices and strengthening technology resilience at global scale. You'll collaborate closely with our Engineering Center of Excellence to implement strategies that enhance developer experience, scale shared platforms, and uplift engineering capabilities across our organization. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership - Drive delivery of high-value engineering transformation programs, ensuring alignment with GDTO priorities and Swiss Re's broader corporate strategy. 

  • Transformation Execution - Translate strategic ambitions into clear roadmaps with measurable outcomes for insourcing, stable teams, engineering management uplift, and shared platform adoption. 

  • Programme Governance - Oversee program lifecycle execution including scope, milestones, planning, cross-domain coordination, staffing, financials, and benefits tracking. 

  • Risk Management - Identify and proactively manage program-level risks, structural impediments, capacity bottlenecks, and cross-team interdependencies. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement - Partner with senior leadership, business sponsors and technology SMEs to align objectives and ensure seamless integration of new capabilities into BAU. 

  • Executive Communication - Prepare and deliver executive papers, progress reports, risk assessments and strategic recommendations. 

  • Vendor Management - Manage third-party delivery partners, ensuring accountability for time, cost, quality and performance standards. 

  • People Leadership - Lead, coach and develop programme managers, fostering an inclusive culture focused on delivery excellence. 

  

About the Team 

You'll be joining the GDTO Investment & Delivery Team, which manages the implementation of strategic technology projects and programmes, owns Swiss Re's global project management standard, and oversees GDTO's portfolio of projects and investments. We are an international team of project and portfolio professionals, dedicated to ensuring GDTO invest in and deliver the right things in the right way. 

  

About You 

You're a strategic thinker with a pragmatic delivery focus who thrives in complex, enterprise-scale environments. You have a proven track record of leading engineering-led transformations and can effectively bridge technology and business perspectives. You value collaboration and understand that team success drives personal success, while maintaining adaptability in dynamic situations. 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements: 

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in programme management of technology, transformation or financial services 

  • Solid understanding of Engineering organisations, including SDLC, Agile, ITIL, engineering methods, DevOps, and cyber and data risk frameworks 

  • Proven ability to act as a bridge between technology and business teams 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence at senior levels 

  • Resilience and adaptability in dynamic environments 

  

These are additional nice to haves: 

  • Experience designing and implementing transformational change initiatives and Target Operating Models in financial services or regulated organisations 

  • Experience in data, analytics, AI or advanced automation programme delivery 

  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance or financial-market infrastructure 

  • Experience leading global or multi-region initiatives 

  • Professional certifications (Agile/Scaled Agile, MSP/PRINCE2) 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  

For Spain, the base salary range for this position is between 98 000 EUR and 163 000 EUR for a full-time role. 

The specific salary offered considers: 

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role 

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience 

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus. 

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
