Engineering Underwriter Support (Hybrid; m/f/x/d)

About the Role

 

As an Engineering Underwriter Support specialist, you'll be the backbone of our EMEA underwriting operations, ensuring smooth processes and providing valuable insights that enable our underwriters to make informed decisions efficiently.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support underwriting operations for Engineering risks in EMEA including systems filing, submission checks, initial costing, and contractual analysis

  • Provide first-level analysis of submissions to underwriters, helping prioritize and evaluate incoming business

  • Assist with portfolio analysis and special assignments focused on process improvements and systems optimization

  • Ensure all administrative tasks within EMEA are completed according to Swiss Re standards

  • Deliver competent and timely service to our underwriters across multiple offices

  • Contribute to project work and handle special assignments as needed

  • With experience and development, support treaty renewal processes across the EMEA region

 

About the Team

 

You will be part of the Madrid team currently formed by three underwriters and one underwriter support specialist. While based in Madrid, your main focus will be contributing to maintain the current book of business in EMEA, primarily supporting underwriters in other offices, particularly our Zurich location. You'll collaborate with a diverse international team working across multiple countries.

 

About You

 

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced international environment. You're someone who can balance attention to detail with strategic thinking, and who takes pride in delivering high-quality work that supports the success of the broader team.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Professional diploma in administration or similar qualification

  • Excellent oral and written English language skills (the work will be conducted fully in English)

  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail while maintaining perspective on broader objectives

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively and deliver quality results on time

 

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Two to five years of experience in similar administrative or pre-underwriting tasks, particularly in an international company

  • Previous insurance industry experience

  • Knowledge of additional languages used in the EMEA region

  • Experience with insurance systems and portfolio analysis tools

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration

  • Goal-oriented mindset with proven ability to meet deadlines

 

For Spain, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 32,000 and EUR 53,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

 

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,

  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience. In situations where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range.

 

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.

 

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
