About the Team
This team will be pivotal in the design, actions and building of sustainable and systematic capability of continuous operational improvements for L&H Re. It will be part of the L&H Business Excellence team, with a scope to cover all of BU L&H Re. The teams mandate consisting of two key pillars:
1. Provide E2E Operational Excellence Enablement across L&H Re, with a focus on continuous process improvement support for all Market Units around the globe.
2. Drive E2E Operational Excellence Controllership across L&H Re, with a focus on process adherence, the related operational metrics as well as the systematic oversight of agreed improvement actions.
About the Role
The Head of L&H Operational Excellence will initiate and lead the Operational Excellence (OpEx) team within the Life & Health (L&H) Reinsurance Business Unit. This role is pivotal in developing and driving the strategic roadmap for operational excellence as well as associated continuous improvements across the L&H Re. This role will own the Process Architecture for L&H Re, lead strategic process optimization initiatives, analyse operational key performance metrics, and implement best practices to enhance the operational excellence discipline across the entire L&H Re value chain. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the role focuses on minimizing operational leakage and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation (e.g. via the use of GenAI technology).
Strategic Process Improvement
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements to reduce operational mistakes as well as enhance efficiency and quality.
- Lead business process reengineering (BPR) initiatives to optimize workflows where required.
- Establish governance frameworks for process standardization across departments.
Operational Excellence & Performance Management
- Develop and implement operational excellence strategies using Lean Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Monitor operational key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct data-driven analysis to improve business performance.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans to resolve operational inefficiencies.
Project & Change Management
- Manage and execute strategic projects related to operational excellence, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Drive change management initiatives, ensuring adoption of new processes and systems across teams.
- Collaborate with leadership to align operational improvements with business objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Partner with business leaders, and process owners to identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and coaching programs to build a culture of continuous improvement.
- Act as a change agent, promoting innovation and operational best practices across the organization.
About You
- Proven experience in operational excellence, process improvement, or a related field within the reinsurance or financial services industry.
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to translate vision into actionable plans and deliver results.
- Strong knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, whilst building positive relationships in a matrix environment.
- Experience in implementing operational frameworks and metrics to drive performance and accountability.
- Ability to lead a global team, involving diverse cultures and backgrounds, as well as to connect the dots end-to-end and build effective working relationships with partners across markets/ different functional areas.
- Strong affinity to change, willingness to try out new ideas and to apply new technologies and practices, while keeping a commercial mindset along the way.
For Spain, the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 98,000] and [EUR 163,000] (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills and experience.
In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range.
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
