Senior Cloud Architect - Azure Platform (hybrid)

About the Team

The Azure Cloud Platform is a unit within the Public Cloud Transformation department and covers end-to-end responsibility for building and operating a secure Public Cloud, that is in line with Swiss Re’s security framework, local regulatory and compliance guidelines, and business needs. This ultimately enables Swiss Re to utilize the power and flexibility offered by public Cloud to deliver higher value to the business and enabling business transformation.

 

About the Role

 

As an Azure Platform Senior Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of Swiss Re.

This position plays a crucial part in aligning the Azure Cloud platform with our business and product strategies, delivering enhanced value to our customers.

As part of this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams and other Cloud Architects to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the solutions used to deliver the Azure platform.

 

Your main responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end engagement, from conceptualization to production, by leading the design, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of solutions running on Azure.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the Azure platform.

  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and technical strategy for the Azure platform.

  • Ensure that all Azure-based solutions are designed and implemented in accordance with industry best practices and standards; and Swiss Re standards.

  • Lead the development of technical solutions that align with the Swiss Re’s strategic goals.

  • Focus on delivering automated and self-healing systems, optimizing workload planning, and exploring solutions to enhance the efficiency of the Azure platform.

  • Collaborate closely with Azure Platform engineers to provide guidance during the implementation of the solutions.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other members of the team.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the Azure space.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing Azure-based solutions.

  • Experience with Microsoft’s CAF (Cloud Adoption Framework)

  • Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures and best practices.

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of complex technical solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of Azure services (including compute, storage, networking, and security).

  • Experience with Cloud topologies and patterns (Data driven architecture, serverless computing, microservices, etc)

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Azure Services like Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure Web Apps, Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Machine Learning, Virtual Networks, etc.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure Active Directory.

  • Strong skills in infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation.

  • Experience in incident resolution, root cause analysis, and postmortem processes.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lead and mentor teams in implementing Azure solutions.

  • Proficient in English (The job is English-speaking only)
