About the Role

Looking for a new career opportunity in Underwriting Agriculture business? 
This is an amazing moment to join our LatAm Team, focusing on the underwriting of proportional and non-proportional facultative and/or treaty accounts for traditional Agriculture business emanating from the Agro Latin America unit. You will work according to the approved business plan, the assigned authority, the specific expertise and in close co-operation with other specialists and/or underwriters. 
The position holder will be responsible for the underwriting, administration and marketing of a highly controlled profitable book of business in the assigned business segment.
You will be assigned to manage large and complex proportional and non-proportional Latin American Agriculture accounts on a facultative and/or treaty basis.

 

Principal Responsibilities:


1.    Underwrites the allocated accounts according to and within the boundaries of the approved business and agreed marketing plan prepared by them.
2.    Leads and monitors the underwriting deal teams in the risk assessment and underwriting process up to the final decision (acceptance or decline), including:

  • Coordinating the underwriting and the risk assessment process between internal and external stakeholders of individual accounts (cedant, broker, risk managers, original insured, Client Managers and Head Agriculture)
  • Structuring insurance solutions and adequate coverage
  • Assessing the insurance risk and the resulting reinsurance exposure including risk inspections on risk sites
  • Performing adequate pricing and compulsory use of benchmark systems and providing relevant Steering Values and its components
  • Setting adequate conditions (original insurance terms and conditions as well as appropriate limitations and exclusions)
  • Recording relevant risk and underwriting data for their designated market 
  • Documenting the underwriting process and the underwriting decision
  • Holding direct negotiations with client and respective exchange of correspondence.

3.    Initiates and oversees the internal referral and escalation process.
4.    Manages the technical administration and fulfillment of the facultative and/or treaty obligations, including:

  • Monitoring of correct data entry into underwriting systems Harmony, Agrorater, Concert, GMPCI, Agroindex, Opti-Crop tools 

5.    Contributes as a technical expert in claims liquidation and reserving processes.
6.    Provides reporting inputs (renewal planning, contribution to the Product Reporting). Organizes data collection and elaborates management and business overviews for his assigned accounts. 
7.    Steers and controls assigned treaty and facultative portfolio. Shares responsibility with the respective Head Agriculture for result and performance contribution to the respective profit center.
8.    Generates statistical analysis of the treaty and/or facultative portfolio and the respective markets, average market loss ratios, average frequency and severity, development of market curves, benchmark rates. 
9.    Performs technical checking of specific treaty clauses and treaty exclusions as well as Special Acceptances.
10.    Collaborates as a team member, in particular with Client Managers and xft team
11.    Visits Clients and Brokers in coordination with responsible Client Managers and xft team.
12.    Participates actively in projects.

About you: 

Academic & Professional Background:
•    Bachelor degree in Agronomy / Master is a plus
•    Experience in agriculture underwriting 
•    Knowledge of the local Latin American insurance and reinsurance market

 

Languages:
•    English: 75%
•    Spanish: 100%
•    Portuguese: is a plus
