About the Role

 

  • Underwriting
    • Analyze and assess technical (re)insurability regarding exposures and coverage on new offer and renewal submissions
    • Structure, price products and managing offer proposals
    • Actively manage and optimize portfolio performance, focusing on sustainable profitability
    • Establish and maintain specific industry know-how
  • Product Development
    • Identify client needs and growth opportunities, and drive new business development by delivering tailored solutions in collaboration with clients and brokers
  • Client Facing
    • Discuss and negotiate with brokers and clients while documenting in writing
    • Explore market opportunities and establish long-term relationships with clients and brokers.
    • Represent Swiss Re in meetings with clients and brokers while document in writing

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify client needs and growth opportunities within the assigned LoB and product, and proactively develop and pursue new business opportunities by delivering tailored solutions in collaboration with clients and brokers.
  • Assess, price, and structure business, ensuring effective capacity deployment and active portfolio management to maximize sustainable and Economic Profit
  • Keep abreast of developments in the P&C Latam Market.
  • Ensure that best practice is consistently adapted and ensure our services is delivered in a professional and timely manner
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers
  • Follow up consistently on business opportunities to ensure conversion and execution for the assigned product.
  • Build up and maintain a market intelligence database (size of market, Share of Wallet (SoW), competitors, products, price, trends etc.) for own LoB 
  • Work in cooperation with colleagues within Swiss Re when and where required
  • Represent Swiss Re in industry seminars, market events, and client engagements (as participant, organizer, or speaker)

 

Expected skills/knowledge

Technical Expertise

  • Ability to understand, assess and foresee the clients/market current and future business needs
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Actuarial Science; required to demonstrate strong analytical skills
  •  2-5 year experience in insurance and reinsurance industry (Property or Casualty underwriting)
  • Risk assessment knowledge on P&C.

 

  • Proficient in portfolio analytics and strategic thinking
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization skills, able to manage multiple demands effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on key priorities
  • Other skills: technically assessing insurance risks / using pricing tools / own underwriting judgment / enjoying client facing role

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

  • Proactive, self-driven, and results-oriented
  • Ability to balance growth ambitions with portfolio discipline
