Head Faculty P&C - Reinsurance Mexico, Central America & Caribbean

About the Opportunity: 

As an integral part of Facultative Latam, we're a diverse and international team of very experienced underwriters with long-standing relationships into our markets, building on a very high level of single risks underwriting expertise and with a strong track record.

You will be responsible for our single risk property portfolio comprised of national and international accounts and complex risks ceded by the largest property writers in the Region. You will be the face to the local markets, both to clients and brokers, and represent Swiss Re Fac at industry events and in leadership meetings. 

As a member of the Fac P&C LATAM Leadership team, beyond steering your own portfolio, you would be involved in strategic, organizational, and operational matters across all Swiss Re's facultative P&C products. 

Your job will focus on evaluating, underwriting, and originating facultative property business primarily for the local market in close collaboration with an experienced team. You will be able to assess a wide range of risk types with your experience and by utilizing state-of-the-art models. Your role will be complemented by fostering and developing client and broker relationships. 

You will collaborate with key account managers, client managers, market underwriters and treaty underwriters in a cross-functional team. Together we build on our partnerships with our clients and share our knowledge, with the objective to bring value for the client and Swiss Re. This role offers you lots of space to develop own ideas and find creative solutions. 

Key responsibilities: 

• You will lead and engage a national team of experienced P&C fac underwriters operating in a dual channel environment. 
• You will be responsible for portfolio monitoring and steering, underwriting quality and profitability of the portfolio to meet or exceed financial and operational KPIs. 
• You will regularly travel to our FAC offices in the region to meet clients, brokers, and staff with focus in the region.

About You

• You have a strong reputation, network and expertise in the Region P&C Fac market, with a background in re/insurance P&C underwriting, including a great knowledge of market conditions, products, and trends
• You lead your team with your management style, positive attitude, and drive. You establish clear performance expectations with results-oriented goals that help everyone on your team to grow, progress and succeed.
• You like to act like an entrepreneur and manage a regional P&L.
• You contribute to the FAC P&C Leadership Team with your intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• You communicate effectively in English and Spanish, other languages valued.
