P&C Facultative Underwriter
About the Role.
*Analyze and assess technical (re)insurability regarding exposures and coverage on new offer and renewal submissions
*Structure and price programs, offer proposals
*Contributes actively to cycle management to maintain/improve our portfolio quality
*Establish and maintain specific industry sector know-how
Product Development: Actively originate new business opportunities for Swiss Re
Client Facing:
*Discuss and negotiate with brokers and clients, document in writing
*Explore market opportunities and stablish long term relationship with clients and brokers
*Represent Swiss Re in meetings with clients and brokers, document in writing
Key Responsibilities.
*Actively identify client needs and growth potential in the assigned LoB and product and develop tailor-made solutions in cooperation with clients / brokers
*Assess, price and structure business offered. Deploy capacity effectively, maximizing Economic Profit
*Keep abreast of developments in the P&C Latam Market.
*Value clients and brokers and assume responsibility for assigned Line of Business (LoB) and product
*Ensure that best practice is consistently adapted and ensure our services is delivered in a professional and timely manner
*Build partnership with key client and broker contact people and actively manage the relationship
*Acquire, steer and broaden Swiss Re’s business for the assigned LoB
*Build up and maintain a market intelligence database (size of market, Share of Wallet (SoW), competitors, products, price, trends etc.) for own LoB
*Work in cooperation with colleagues within Swiss Re when and where required
*Participate in seminars, workshops, conference, market events as contributor, panelist or even given lectures on specific Underwriting topics
About You.
Technical Expertise:
- Thorough knowledge of the global and local insurance and reinsurance markets
- Ability to understand, assess and foresee the clients/market current and future business needs
- University degree (commercial and/or technical area)
- 2-5 year experience in insurance and reinsurance industry (Property or Casualty underwriting)
- Risk assessment knowledge on P&C.
- Proficient in portfolio analytics and strategic thinking
- Pragmatic, flexible but able to make tough decisions under time pressure
- Other skills: technically assessing insurance risks / using pricing tools / own underwriting judgment / enjoying client facing role, etc

- Entrepreneurial attitude
- Communication skill both internally and externally
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ability to work independently with autonomy
- Excellent networking ability to speak with confidence in public
- Language skills: good command of English and Spanish
