Job Title: Senior Risk Engineer


About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Risk Engineer to join our Risk Engineering Services Latin America team, based in Mexico City. This position reports to the Head of Risk Engineering Services Americas.


Key Responsibilities
•    Act as Account Engineer for customers with property insurance programs underwritten by SRCS in Latin America, with a primary focus on Mexico and the regional Wholesale business.
•    Develop customer service plans, negotiate service fees, and coordinate account-level field servicing, to be carried out either by Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (SRCS) risk engineers or by trusted service partners.
•    Work closely with customers and brokers throughout the account production, underwriting, and servicing cycle.
•    Collaborate with and advise underwriters on the risk quality and exposures of existing accounts and new business. This involves reviewing, interpreting, and summarizing risk assessments from SRCS engineers, service partners, brokers, and competitors.
•    Occasionally conduct on-site risk assessments and operational reviews to verify customer risk mitigation strategies and provide tailored risk improvement recommendations.
•    Prepare external loss control and internal underwriting reports, and review project plans.
•    Partner closely with the Customer and Distribution Management and Claims departments to support current customers and prospect new business opportunities.

 

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
•    An engineering degree.
•    Approximately 10 years of experience in loss prevention, with a background as both a field and account engineer.
•    A solid foundation in property insurance, or a combination of property insurance and industrial experience.
•    Expertise in property loss prevention and control across a wide range of industries, including general manufacturing, plastics, food, real estate, retail, warehousing, and metalworking.
•    Specialized knowledge in sectors such as forestry (pulp & paper, woodworking), automotive and auto parts, cement, steel, aluminum, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals, is welcomed.
•    Experience or expertise in machinery breakdown is a plus.
•    Working knowledge of NFPA standards and practical familiarity with FM Data Sheets or similar Highly Protected Risk (HPR) standards.
•    Ability to develop loss scenarios aligned with industry standards in property insurance.
•    Strong understanding of natural catastrophe (NatCat) exposures, including flood, earthquake, windstorm, and lightning.
•    Ability to connect loss prevention insights with historical loss data to support trend analysis in collaboration with underwriting and claims teams.
•    Experience or expertise in data analytics, benchmarking, portfolio risk management, and/or automation tools.
•    Excellent customer-facing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common business software tools.
•    A business-oriented mindset, with a strong sense of teamwork, customer commitment, and service focus.
•    Fluency in Spanish and English is required; basic knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
