About the Team
You will be part of the General Property team in Mexico focused mainly on Direct business. You will be responsible for underwriting accounts and growing the book of business as well as for developing and handling client/broker relationships. The position includes underwriting, client management and marketing tasks as well as the administration of your own client portfolio.
The underwriting component includes the analysis of coverage (namely Property Damage and Business Interruption), exposures, wordings, premium calculation and the technical insurability/re-insurability of General Property risks.
An important part of your job will be the analysis and negotiation of terms and conditions with both clients and brokers. You will be responsible for the appropriate contractual documentation of the risks.
The marketing component of your job will consist of working with existing and prospective brokers and clients to develop new business and profitably grow the book of business. Along with the team you will be responsible for maintaining and developing strategic relationships with key broker producers and clients, and, where necessary, making presentations about our underwriting capabilities. You will also be expected to coordinate with various other areas in and out of Corporate Solutions to maximize cross-selling traditional and non-traditional opportunities.
About the Role:
- As a Property Underwriter, you will be responsible for the in-depth underwriting analysis of each contract to be quoted. This includes gathering and evaluating data, analyzing accounts’ loss history and risk quality, and proposing changes to the wording, terms and conditions of (re)insurance contracts.
- Using your networking skills, you will develop strong marketing relationships with clients in Mexico.
- Apply your good understanding of profitability and financial analysis to consistently identify and analyze property damage and business interruption exposures for various industry classes.
- Solid experience and understanding of Nat Cat and Man-Made costing methodologies, underwriting assessment, risk management and loss-prevention
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to cross sell SRCS’s product offering
- Strong business and client focus with proven business impact
- Ability and proven track record of handling complex transactions/accounts
- Ability to lead internal (technical/organizational) and/or external (market/client development) projects
- Coaching of less experienced underwriter
- Uses Swiss Re tools and systems for the development of terms and conditions
About You:
- Fluent English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- More than (5) years of Property Underwriting experience. Preferably experience handling International Programs.
- Engineering, natural sciences, business or economics, mathematical or analytical background desirable but not required.
- Advance insurance/reinsurance knowledge is required.
- Preferably experience handling International Programs
- Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Team player with willingness to help and assist others.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good ability to prioritize and work with tight schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Highly motivated individual with an entrepreneurial mindset to turn customer needs into deals (both traditional and non-traditional/alternative solutions).
