About The Role:

We are looking for a proactive, highly motivated and result oriented Underwriter to join the Casualty team within Corporate Solutions.This is an underwriting position for someone with established broker connections in the Mexican Casualty Market. The core focus is on contributing to the result-oriented underwriting of International Program Casualty transactions as a (primary and excess) Insurer and to grow the Latin American Casualty book of business substantially and profitably.

Your main tasks will be to work together with existing team of underwriters in Mexico building the new portfolio of international program for Mexican clients, renew existing portfolio, support doing underwriting process of complex accounts and generate new business opportunities by leveraging insurance broker contacts, analyzing, and assessing the technical insurability in respect of exposures and coverages, reviewing cover structures, wordings and proposals, and preparing quotations.

You will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the client’s requirements and expectations and to participate in discussions and negotiations with brokers, existing and new clients.

As a Casualty Underwriter, you will be responsible for the in-depth underwriting analysis of each contract to be quoted. This includes gathering and evaluating data, analyzing accounts’ loss history and risk quality, and proposing changes to the wording, terms, and conditions of insurance contracts. You will actively participate in discussions about costed loss ratio, reserving loss ratio, IBNRs, pricing-tool adequacies, underwriting process, among others. Furthermore, you may contribute to project work, work in international deal teams, and accept special assignments as required

About You:

  • Educational/Professional - University graduate with a degree, preferably in law / engineering /administration /economics and with at least 5 to 7 years of relevant working experience in the insurance and/or reinsurance in Mexico focused on Casualty as Underwriter.
  • Other Financial Lines or Casualty products such Contaminated Product and Environmental Premises Liability experiences will be a differentiator.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret technical data
  • Fluent in English; Spanish and Portuguese desirable
  • Network of Mexican Brokers and Clients (focused on international programs)
