About the role

We are looking for a Property Treaty Underwriter to join our CUO Property Treaty underwriting organization. The role is designed for a underwriting professional with analytic skills looking to build portfolio‑level expertise  by contributing to the portfolio ambition, steering frameworks, underwriting standards, and governance outcomes across Property Americas. This is not a transaction role but a portfolio underwriting role.

Your work as a Property Treaty Underwriter

You will play a key role in steering and safeguarding the performance of the Property Americas Treaty portfolio across the reinsurance cycle. You will engage closely with senior property underwriters in the team and with Market Units, Actuarial, Cat Perils, Finance, CUO leadership, clients, and brokers to ensure disciplined portfolio management and consistent market positioning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working closely with senior team members to prepare and contribute to strategic portfolio reviews, renewal reporting, and forward‑looking analyses
• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify portfolio trends, risk concentrations, performance drivers, and emerging issues.
• Monitoring portfolio performance, including Actual vs Expected loss ratios, accumulation usage versus limits, and adherence to underwriting standards and terms and conditions
• Supporting and tracking portfolio remediation and course‑correction actions, embedding lessons learned
• Providing input and decision support on referrals, exemptions, and escalation topics within assigned authority
• Supporting and enforcing underwriting governance frameworks, authorities, and Internal Risk Reviews
• Represent the property treaty portfolio in market discussions, select client meetings, and industry forums

About the team

You will be part of the global CUO Property Treaty underwriting organization with a focus on the Americas, operating in a collaborative and international environment. The Property Americas CUO team has 5 employees spread across the region reporting into the Head of Property Americas.   The portfolio spans across Canada, US, and Latin America with both country‑specific and global treaties and requires close interaction with Market Units, portfolio management functions, and cat perils.

About You:

• You have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry – preferably property or actuarial background
• Capability to handle large data sets - strong excel skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Collaborative and able to work across multiple cultures
• Natural curiosity and eagerness to learn
