Head Claims Latin America, Property & Casualty
We are looking for a skilled Claims leader to lead Property & Casualty (P&C) Claims management for our Latin America and Caribbean Market Units.
About the Role
In this role you will be heading the team of experienced Claim Experts across the Latin America and Caribbean region. In addition to managing the team and actively contributing to the development of the team and individuals, you will be leading, shaping, and implementing the P&C Claims strategy for this region.
Our Head Claims Latin America, P&C will actively promote Swiss Re's brand by building a network with key regional stakeholders including Swiss Re staff, clients, brokers, and other stakeholders. Providing thought leadership on key topics that impact the industry and the strategy of Swiss Re within the relevant markets.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing the P&C claims portfolio in the Latin America and Caribbean region: ensuring strategy on large claims, paying the right claims, consistency and adequacy of case reserves, timely and accurate reporting both on individual claims as well as portfolio level and actively solving problems to avoid surprises.
- Align your leadership with relevant stakeholders and Swiss Re's overall business strategy for the region; understanding and using market trends and developments.
- Providing strong leadership and advocacy on behalf of P&C Claims matters at relevant market, client interactions and market bodies.
- Driving impactful client-related projects in support of our value proposition, providing strong links to the strategy. In addition, coordinating P&C Claims management actions and engagement with stakeholders.
- Delivering a strong link and feedback loop maintained between the Market Unit, Global Claims, the Centre of Excellence Claims, (Client) Underwriters, Risk Management, Finance, and other areas. Ensuring plans are fully embedded in the market strategies in all client segments.
- Review and coordinate Governance and Compliance-related topics.
About the Team
Our team consists of 7 highly knowledgeable claims experts with a diverse set of backgrounds, located in Mexico City, Bogota and Sao Paulo. Heading the team, you will report directly to the Market Unit Head of Latin America and the Caribbean. You will be part of the Latin America and Caribbean Leadership Team and will contribute relevantly in terms of strategy, leadership, and functional content as well as with more general, market- and business-related insights.
About You
We are seeking a strong leader with an engaging personality who leads by example and lives and fosters our Corporate Values in daily business activity. You are a self-confident, self-steering, curious individual with influential skills, ready to speak to relevant clients and partners.
Moreover, you have:
- At least 7 years of experience in strong re/insurance P&C portfolio-based claim handling, including an excellent understanding of markets, products, trends, and developments.
- Seasoned personality to represent Swiss Re at clients' senior and executive management level.
- Ability to manage a team of experts, involving diverse cultures and backgrounds, as well as to connect the dots end-to-end and build effective working relationships with partners across markets/ different functional areas.
- Inspirational leadership with the ability to align talent with the strategy and stimulate transformation and adaptation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; motivational coach who promotes teamwork and cooperation across teams and functions.
- Strong financial and statistical acumen with understanding of reserving rationale and the resulting impacts; ability to take holistic view of performance and initiate appropriate action.
- Experience in dealing with challenging situations while keeping balance and attentiveness.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $250,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
