Casualty Underwriter (Hybrid, m/f/x/d)

Join our team as a proficient Underwriter specializing in medium to large Italian commercial and industrial corporates. Be at the forefront of building and maintaining connections, generating submissions and seizing cross-selling opportunities in an exciting international business environment.

 

About the Role

 

As an Underwriter, you'll proficiently assess medium to large Italian commercial and industrial corporates on a primary and excess basis, including international lead business. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Entertaining contacts with relevant brokers and clients, and sourcing suitable business.

  • Triaging new submissions and identifying opportunities to position Corporate Solutions early.

  • Assessing risk, coverage, terms, and conditions, and costing the business within available rating tools.

  • Communicating proactively, timely, and transparently with clients and brokers.

  • Negotiating with clients and brokers in cooperation with internal stakeholders.

 

About the Team

 

You'll be part of a diverse, young, and dynamic team, balancing passion for performance with great cooperation spirit.

Our casualty team is composed by three (and with you, four) people and the team head with a combined 40 plus year business experience. We like to strike the right balance between the job and the build up of a healthy and friendly team spirit.

 

About You

 

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Italian mother tongue and proficient English language skills.

  • University degree in law, economics and/or engineering.

  • 3+ years of experience in the Italian direct casualty insurance market, underwriting medium to large corporates.

  • Proficiency in underwriting tools and IT applications.

  • Flair for numbers and orders of magnitudes.

  • Ability to deal with complexity and, sometimes, incomplete information.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiating skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and integrate other functions in the underwriting process.

  • Willingness to perform under time pressure during peak renewal periods while ensuring adherence to processes and guidelines.
