(Junior) Underwriting Expert (m/f/x/d;Hybrid)

About the Role
As a Junior UW Expert, you will support key underwriting governance activities and contribute to initiatives that improve how we operate across our Property & Casualty Reinsurance business. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues across P&C Re to analyze processes, enhance frameworks, and help embed underwriting standards. This role offers hands‑on exposure to underwriting excellence topics and the opportunity to develop deep UW governance expertise over time.
Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the analysis of P&C Re underwriting processes, identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced governance

Support the development and implementation of underwriting governance tools, including early-stage involvement in AI‑enabled solutions

Assist in managing topics related to Underwriting Standards, including preparing assessments and coordinating change requests

Help design and maintain documentation, guidelines, and materials that support underwriting governance

Contribute to Learning & Development initiatives by developing content, gathering feedback, and lead rollout activities

Collaborate with Lines of Business and other stakeholders to ensure consistent application of underwriting standards and processes

The UW Governance team, part of UW Excellence, strengthens underwriting governance and operational discipline across P&C Re. We’re a diverse team based across Zurich and Munich, partnering with Lines of Business to embed standards, streamline underwriting processes, and measure outcomes. Our team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of underwriting at our organization through strategic initiatives and governance frameworks.
About You
You are motivated to develop your skills in underwriting governance and excellence. You enjoy working with data, processes, and frameworks, and you’re comfortable collaborating with colleagues across teams. You bring curiosity, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn from experienced professionals.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

1- 3 years' experience in re-/insurance, Underwriting, Governance, risk, or a related analytical role

Basic understanding of UW tasks, reinsurance wordings, underwriting processes (or strong motivation to learn)

Good analytical skills and comfortable working with data to support insights and decisions

Strong communication and collaboration with the ability to work effectively across teams

Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks with guidance
- Business fluency in English

Experience supporting projects or process improvements initiatives

For Germany, the base salary range for the Junior UW Expert is between EUR 56.000 and EUR 94.000 for a full-time role. The base salary range for the UW Expert is between EUR 72.000 and EUR 120.000 for a full-time role.The specific salary offered considers:
• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role
• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience
In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
