About the Role

 

For this fascinating role, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Claims Expert to join our Northern, Central and Eastern European Claims Team at Swiss Re in Munich or Copenhagen (with stronger preference for Munich).

In this role, you will be responsible for handling large & complex claims portfolios with focus on the Casualty line of business in the Nordic markets.

 

Your main tasks:

 

  • Manage a Casualty claims portfolio by ensuring innovative claims management under your full responsibility.
  • Assess high-profile claims from a quantum, root cause and liability point of view as well as from an original policy and reinsurance perspective.
  • Monitor, steer and control claims adjudication processes and identify portfolio trends and patterns. Perform claims handling under use of dedicated tools and systems in line with internal processes and guidelines.
  • Plan and conduct claims reviews, audits, and trainings, oversee and/or assist clients in any remedial actions to improve and maintain high claims standards.
  • Identify and monitor legal risk of change, claims trends and regulatory developments that may affect Swiss Re's book of business (inforce and prospective)
  • Elaborate and implement claims strategies and services in collaboration with the cross-functional market teams (XFTs) and deliver on operational, financial, and strategic targets.
  • Become a member of the cross-functional market teams (XFT) by supporting market executives, client managers and underwriters with your claim and claims portfolio insights and expertise, actively shaping and influencing the deliverables and market strategy.
  • Work closely together with the Solutions and Transactions Teams, contribute to their initiatives and activities, supporting Claims related services and solutions.
  • Promote and represent Swiss Re's expertise and profile in market bodies, client events or conferences and expand your network of industry contacts respectively, i.e. clients, attorneys, adjusters, specialists.
  • Maintain, foster and extend client relationships in the markets under your responsibility, in line with the principles of right service for the right clients.
  • Contribute to our Thought Leadership activities and internal claims expert networks to create client adding value and to differentiate Swiss Re.
  • Ensure a continuous feedback loop, particularly to Client Underwriting, Underwriting, Reserving and other stakeholders.

 

You will be part of the P&C Claims Team for Northern, Central and Eastern Europe together with experienced claims handlers with different professional backgrounds and nationalities.

 

About You

 

We are looking for a team member with excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to maintain and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You are approaching problems with intellectual curiosity, using analytical skills, and focusing on result.

 

Our key requirements are:

 

  • University degree and/or equivalent work experience with a strong commercial approach. Legal background preferred.
  • Consistent track record of (re-) insurance and claims handling experience.
  • Additional experiences in the primary insurance sector and in the Casualty Line of Business are a plus.
  • Medium level of financial and statistical acumen with understanding of reserving rationale and the resulting impacts; ability to take holistic view of performance.
  • High degree of self-initiative and innovative spirit. Strong focus on knowledge sharing and client centricity.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Enthusiastic to work in a global and multicultural environment, ready to adapt in an agile and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English, additional Nordic languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel within the EMEA region.
