Global Head Commodity and Energy Transition Finance (CETF)(m/f/x)

About the Role

 

The Global Head Commodity and Energy Transition Finance reports to the Global Head Commodity, Trade and Sovereign Credit within the Credit & Surety unit of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of the Swiss Re Group.   

 

In this role, you will lead and manage the CETF business and will be responsible for setting the portfolio strategy, take portfolio steering actions to maximize underwriting performance, lead the distribution with key bank clients and brokers, manage our talents and be responsible E2E for the successful execution of the business in line with our strategic ambitions and plans.

 

You will work in close cross-functional collaboration with colleagues in other Corporate Solutions and Group functions.

 

 

Your key responsibilities are as follows:

  • you shape and ensure execution of the strategy associated with originating, underwriting and steering, with relentless focus on underwriting profitability
  • you maintain and develop strong client and broker relationships to deliver win win strategic outcomes
  • you proactively steer the portfolio with a data-driven approach and are abreast of key trends that may impact our business.
  • you develop origination action plans and financial targets, empowering your team to own and lead business priorities
  • you build a high-performance team that lives the culture of Swiss Re

 

About the Team

 

Our CETF team is 10 employees strong with team members located in London, Munich, Madrid, Amsterdam and Singapore. Our business generates approximately USD 90m in premium, positioning us as #1 insurance player in this highly specialized business segment.

 

About You

 

The position holder will have the following experience and qualifications:

 

  • More than 10 years of experience in managing a portfolio in the structured trade credit and political risk insurance market, with deep knowledge of complex loan structures such as Pre-export finance, Reserve Based lending, Mining Project Finance and Energy transition sectors
  • Successful track-record of profitable growth over the business cycle
  • Extensive business network with financial institutions and brokers trading in the relevant space
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High cultural sensitivity and ability to work in an international environment
  • Fluent in English
  • Willing to undertake extensive business travelling even at short notice

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between 135,000 and 225,000 EUR (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers: ​

 

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,​

  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​

 

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements.
