Junior Products Actuary - Experience Studies (Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)

We are offering an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative, cross functional team within Swiss Re's Life and Health business in the EMEA region. As part of our Experience Studies team, you'll analyze portfolio performance, support key stakeholders, and deliver actionable insights that help set best estimates, define valuation assumptions, and steer management decisions.

 

About the Role

As a Products Actuary specializing in Experience Studies, you'll support the EMEA Experience Studies Lead with activities that provide broad exposure to L&H business across the region. Your analytical expertise will directly influence business decisions and portfolio performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze data in R across products and markets to assess portfolio performance and emerging trends
  • Develop and maintain experience studies that support best estimate assumptions and valuation inputs
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across studies and reporting frameworks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with pricing, valuation, client markets, and portfolio steering teams to align insights
  • Promote and share findings clearly to stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Participate in global initiatives to harmonize experience analysis practices and share insights across regions
  • Ensure compliance with global experience governance standards, methods, and process requirements

 

About the Team

The Experience Studies EMEA team is an international unit dedicated to monitoring and analyzing Life and Health experience across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We ensure correct assumptions are used for pricing and reserving of the portfolio to maintain long-term profitability. Our insights directly support strategic decision-making across the business, making our work essential to the company's success and sustainability.

 

About You

You're an analytical thinker with excellent communication skills who thrives in collaborative environments. You enjoy building working relationships across technical subject areas and can translate complex data into meaningful business insights. Your ability to work optimally across the L&H value chain, including with non-actuaries, makes you an ideal candidate for this role.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • First professional experience in the actuarial domain with 1-4 years of experience
  • Working towards an actuarial qualification
  • Prior experience with Python and/or R
  • Understanding and knowledge of L&H insurance products
  • Strong documentation and governance mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to present and discuss results with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English is required

 

These are additional nice to haves:

  • German, French, Italian, Dutch or any other European languages are an asset
  • Experience connecting data insights to broader business implications
  • Knowledge of how experience studies influence assumption setting, profitability, and strategic decisions
  • Experience working in international or cross-cultural teams

 

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 51.000 and EUR 85.000 for a full-time role.

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
