Junior Underwriter Property (m/f/x)

About the Program

We are looking for graduates and young professionals with strong interpersonal skills, who are curious, open-minded and eager to learn and broaden their knowledge and experience. Our Junior Underwriting program will offer you an exceptional mixture of learning on-the-job and a challenging, independent experience in a growing and dynamic business environment. The Program will be adjusted to your capabilities with a duration of 18 -24 months. You will start in Munich with interfacial rotations and specific technical modules and trainings which provide a unique and well-rounded curriculum.


About the role

You will closely interact with the whole Property team and support triaging and identifying new businesses as well as working on our existing business. You will be responsible for the analysis and assessment of Property submissions in respect of exposure and coverages. In your role you will support identifying and negotiating the best position for Corporate Solutions. With your analytical and critical thinking, you will support the Senior Underwriters to develop account strategies to expand our position on current accounts and to cross-sell to other Line of Businesses. You will also contribute to market Corporate Solution's products.

About the Team
As a member of our EMEA P&C Underwriting community, you will be fully embedded and play a significant role in the German Property Team. The team consists of 15 Property and Energy Underwriter responsible for Germany and Austria. The team covers a wide array of professional backgrounds (Direct / Re-Insurance, Clients, Brokers) across offices in Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt.

Based on your skills, you will develop to become a specialist and to grow into an Underwriting role (incl. UW authority) focusing both on gaining technical knowledge as well as building a network in the market and strong negotiation skills.


About You

  • University educated, degree(s), or equivalent (Industry Designations); or completed industry formation (Ausbildung)

  • Good English language skills

  • Ability to deal with complexity and sometimes incomplete information

  • Comfortable with IT tools and interpreting figures

  • Good presentation and negotiating skills

  • Solution and results oriented

  • Team-player with an interest in working internationally too

  • Ability to work under time pressure

  • Interested in building relationships and developing your network

  • Willingness to travel

  • Self-starter with „can do“ attitude
