Regional Head Casualty and financial lines Facultative

The Regional Head Casualty and financial lines Facultative is an exciting opportunity within the Property & Casualty Facultative EMEA team in P&C Re.  

 

In this role you are the underwriting and market leader for Facultative Casualty business in allocated markets and you lead a large team of junior and senior underwriters. You play an integral part in driving origination and underwriting of sustainable and profitable business, with ownership for the client relationship and full P&L responsibility. You are responsible to develop the underwriting strategy for allocated markets, as well as strategies for selected key clients, brokers and other business partners. 

 

Your focus is to grasp the client's needs, develop corresponding solutions, drive innovation by growing the pipeline of new business solutions and products. Of equal importance is a specific spotlight on maintaining underwriting quality and preserving the value of our portfolio.

Main activities: 

  • Leader of the Fac Casualty and financial lines P&L business in the allocated regions 
  • Co-ownership of the overall facultative Casualty results and together with the Fac P&C Leadership team members, of results across EMEA 
  • Draft and implement respective underwriting and sales strategies and initiatives for your region. 
  • Origination, evaluation and underwriting of facultative business within your assigned markets. You will be able to assess a wide range of risk types with your experience and by utilizing state-of-the-art models. 
  • Strong focus on positioning Swiss Re in the market, growing traditional business market share, as well as driving innovation and differentiated solutions to generate new opportunities. 
  • Lead, inspire, empower, and develop your team members. 
  • As part of the extended FAC leadership team you contribute to the cross-functional teams serving their assigned markets and clients

About You: 

 

  • You have at least seven to ten years of experience in re/insurance Casualty underwriting, including an excellent understanding of markets, products and trends  
  • Consistent track record as a successful sales leader and dealmaker in originating new business. 
  • Experienced in leading and developing people. A motivational coach who can unlock the potential in others and promotes teamwork and collaboration across business units, countries and functions. 
  • You have strong negotiation, presentation and influencing skills. 
  • Strategic problem solver passionate about delivering results. 
  • Creative in developing new solutions and perseverant in pursuing opportunities. 
  • Open to the challenges of digital disruption and able to handle ambiguity. 
  • Strong team player who promotes partnership and cooperation across teams, units and countries. 
  • You are open minded, with entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiastic to perform. A self-motivated leader with a can-do attitude and a strong desire to succeed.

  • A strong communicator in German and English is mandatory 

 

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between 139,000 and 231,000 EUR (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers: ​

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,​

  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.​
