About the Role

 

This is a chance to join a team responsible for identifying business opportunities through idea generation, analysis, and client presentations around the value created through reinsurance for a selected group of clients and prospects in Swiss Re's Property & Casualty Reinsurance Business Unit.  To not only originate reinsurance solutions that meet client's strategic objectives, but also deepen Swiss Re's understanding of clients to strengthen relationships and dialogues.

This requires converting broad knowledge of (re)insurance, enterprise valuation, corporate finance and strategy, industry trends, regulatory frameworks, rating agencies, and capital markets, into commercially viable business opportunities and effective strategic dialogue on reinsurance value creation.

 

 Be part of a team working side by side with client management, to develop and originate reinsurance business opportunities:

  • Develop and promote the value proposition of reinsurance as a pro-active element within clients' strategic and capital management toolkit

  • Analyze clients' financial valuation, investor expectations, capital flexibility, and other financial and strategic measures and engage with them on how reinsurance can enhance those metrics

  • Contribute to select Client Engagement Teams with a focus on value creation opportunities

  • Interface regularly with underwriting colleagues to understand solutions and identify emerging and changing client needs and maintain an understanding of Swiss Re's risk appetite

  • Contribute within the global P&C Business Development community, sharing ideas, leveraging our global presence to identify business opportunities by addressing client needs

 

About the Team

 

Business Development is a global team. We work across client segments and lines of business to increase business origination and enhance client dialogues through understanding client needs – especially with respect to corporate finance, financial markets, investor, and regulator demands. 

The Business Development team identifies client needs and applicable reinsurance opportunities and assess their impact on client financial performance.  The team is collaborative and made up of creative, inquisitive, and engaging people who seek opportunity, explore possibilities, and bring them to commercial realization.

 

About you

 

  • Good understanding of the primary P&C insurance market, trends, and products. Minimum 5 years of experience in the area. 

  • In depth knowledge of corporate finance, accounting, solvency and ratings capital models, and P&C insurance company valuation drivers

  • Strong communicator, particularly with an aptitude for sales

  • Out-of-the-box problem solver; comfortable working across multifaceted clients, solution types, and products

  • Ability to prioritize and apply sound commercial judgment and to navigate ambiguity, self-motivate, work with agility, and pro-actively generate ideas and opportunities for client engagement

  • Able to conduct business in English and German with French an added plus
