About the Role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a new role at Swiss Re. The Client Underwriter for P&C Reinsurance business in Germany will focus on selecting top clients and building a portfolio that outperforms the market benchmark.

The role will include P&C Client Underwriting activities (underwriting of standard risks and client management) as well as Expert Property Underwriting activities (underwriting of complex risks).

A successful Senior Client Underwriter will combine world class origination, client management and Underwriting Excellence skills to develop and foster client relations across all executive and management levels.

 

Key responsibilities may include

 

  • End-to-end underwriting analyses of core business including risk selection, costing, contracts review and structuring; incorporating and improving relevant technology to make informed decisions
  • Grow the core business by developing opportunities in the portfolio in collaboration with relevant specialists and driving toward the principle of "right service right client"
  • Anticipate and understanding competitor products as well as industry, economic and market trends
  • Accountability for Client Underwriting and Expert Underwriting accounts within the assigned market and in compliance with respective guidelines

About You

 

You have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and pride yourself on your analytical and organizational skills. You have exceptional communication and client management skills that help you build and develop relationships with clients and brokers.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance underwriting, portfolio and/or client management
  • Proficient in the German and English language
  • Minimum Level 1 Client Underwriting Authority (or equivalent) or willingness to acquire
  • Property Underwriting authortiy (active or dormant) is a plus
  • Additional required technical skills include contractual knowledge, strategic mindset, market intelligence, portfolio steering, product knowledge and risk assessment & appetite
  • Strong analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • High affinity to technology and data analytics
  • Ambitious mind-set focused on delivering results

 

Travel required 20-25%
