Senior Underwriter Facultative Property (Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluation, underwriting and conclusion of facultative property insurance business primarily for the German market
  • Cooperation with risk-engineering, contracts, client managers as well as treaty underwriters in a cross-functional team
  • Developing client and broker relationships to achieve Swiss Re's vision and create value for our clients
  • Own underwriting responsibility for dedicated cedents and corresponding portfolios

Join our team! We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious Senior Underwriter Facultative Property for the Munich Desk, covering Austria, CEE, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Germany as well as Switzerland.

 

About You

 

Essentials:

 

  • You are building on a professional training / trainee program in the insurance industry ('Versicherungskauffrau/-mann'/'Kauffrau/-mann für Versicherungen und Finanzen') with further qualifications ('Versicherungsfachwirt/in (IHK)', 'Versicherungsbetriebswirt/in (DVA)', 'Technischer Underwriter (DVA)'), a dual study program ('Betriebswirt/in BA'/'Bachelor of Arts – Versicherung') or an University degree related to economics, law or engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in broking, insurance, or reinsurance of Commercial and Industrial Property Risks
  • Excellent understanding of Single Risk Assessment and Underwriting including direct insurance know-how
  • Strong technical skills including industry-specific exposure and business interruption know-how as well as fire protection, and single risk natural hazard/protection fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of property wordings and contract topics
  • Good Data analytical skills and interests
  • Broad network into the (direct) insurance world (preferably to the German market)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluent in German and good command of English

Please note that interview process for this role will start in February 2026. 

 

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between 101 000 EUR and 169 000 EUR for a full-time role.

The specific salary offered considers:

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
