We are looking for someone to lead one of our North America Fin Pro Claims teams who will deliver excellence in both claim management and technical claim results. This leader will inspire and support the team while delivering on our Claims Commitment so that we continue delighting our clients and brokers while differentiating Swiss Re Corporate Solutions as a Commercial Insurer of choice.

You will assume direct managerial responsibility for a highly skilled claims team located in various offices throughout the U.S. while working closely with colleagues in Client Markets, Products Underwriting, Products Actuary, and HR. This position reports to the Head of North America Fin Pro Claims for Corporate Solutions.

 

About the Role

  • Monitor the team's processes and workload distribution to achieve maximum productivity and unparalleled customer service.
  • Work with the team to ensure that coverage and liability analyses are well-developed;
  • Monitor negotiations on complex and sensitive claims, actively participating when necessary;
  • Develop and support existing and prospective external customer relationships;
  • Develop key talent and engage in succession planning;
  • Drive accountability in how we use external vendors, including outside legal counsel, third party administrators, and others;
  • Analyze data to identify current and anticipated claims trends for internal and external customers;
  • Communicate key insights to colleagues in Underwriting, Sales and Products;
  • Participate with peers and leadership in setting the overall strategic plan for the Fin Pro claim team;
  • Represent Swiss Re at client and industry related conferences, events and professional society functions.

 

About the Team

You will lead a team of industry professionals who handle claims arising out various Fin Pro lines of business, including excess and primary public company D&O, Employment Practices Liability, Transactional Liability, Healthcare, and Cyber/Tech E&O. You will work closely with other Fin Pro team leaders to develop best practices and build team engagement. You will also collaborate with Underwriting and Sales colleagues to help  deliver the best product possible while also building strong relationships with key external partners.

 

About You:

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required and a JD is strongly preferred.  A licensed attorney with insurance related legal experience is ideal.
  • A thorough working knowledge of the Insurance Industry in general and significant experience in Financial and Professional lines of business (5+ years minimum);
  • Highly developed analytical, writing and communication skills and excellent presentations skills;
  • An understanding of the key leadership behaviors needed to manage a high performing team and the ability to collaborate with other team members and peers;
  • The skills to capture, aggregate and analyze claim data for both internal and external use;
  • A strategic thinker able to challenge the status quo, inspire the best in others and build relationships.
  • Able to travel up to 10% of the time.
