Documentation & Derivatives Analyst/Team Lead (Hybrid Work Model)

The Documentation & Derivatives (D&D) team is looking for a professional who can drive meaningful change by collaborating across varying functions in order to improve processes, spot inefficiencies, maintain an open culture, and continually to educate themselves on the firm, clients, and products we support.

 

This role may be an AVP (Analyst) or VP (Team Lead) depending on the leadership qualifications and work experience of the successful candidate.

 

About the Role

 

In this team you will work alongside passionate professionals on the Trading Desks, Technology, Legal, Group Finance, Middle Office, Compliance, Reconciliations and external counterparties in order to resolve issues, queries and drive our processes forward.  You will be responsible for ensuring that proper Asset Management processes and procedures are executed successfully to maintain our strong control framework and efficiencies from both a personnel and processing perspective.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Responsible for operational support on OTC and Listed derivative for various trading desks including Rates, Credit, Treasury, Weather Derivatives, Insurance Linked Securities, etc.
  • Co-ordinating internally and externally to ensure Electronic and Paper trade confirmations are executed in a timely manner
  • Oversee the regulatory reporting of derivatives across different jurisdictions
  • Monitoring of daily listed trading activity across all Futures Clearing Merchants
  • Provide insight of trading activity through reports and ad-hoc analysis of data
  • Collaborate and build relationships with our colleagues from different teams to solve issues and provide better solutions for our group
  • Involvement in new or ongoing projects driven by Asset Management
  • Collaborate with Technology to develop and improve our consumption and representation of big data
  • Challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change and improvements to our processes and controls

 

 

About the Team

 

The Documentation & Derivatives team sits in the Asset Management arm of Swiss Re.  We are a team of dynamic professionals who support and strengthen our Global team of multiple internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure proper trade representation, guide documentation to completion, and oversee the regulatory reporting process among the different jurisdictions that Swiss Re operates in. 

 

 

About You

 

You are driven, commercial, highly analytical with an innovative mindset and zeal for supporting internal and external clients.  You have a strong track record of efficiency gains aided by excellent organization and prioritization skills with keen attention to detail.  Your initiative and ability to communicate clearly at all levels enable you to collaborate successfully under pressure.

 

Requirements for AVP Analyst:

 

  • College Degree - BA, BS and minimum 3 years' experience in Operations or similar role
  • Knowledge of OTC and Listed products and regulations (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, FinfraG etc...) and ISDA protocols
  • Works well independently and as part of a team of equals
  • Flexibility and desire to continuous learning
  • Experience with derivative booking systems, as well as Markitwire, Markit Trade Manager (MTM), TradeSuite etc..
  • Strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills

 

Requirements for VP Team Lead include the above as well as:

 

  • Bachelors or Master in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or Math.
  • 7 -10 years of Financial background with technical business analysis skills.
  • Leadership experience within trading operations
  • Understand and able to quickly learn the infrastructure and workflow of trades.
  • Full E2E Derivative Lifecycle Comprehension
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and tasks, daily stress and manage strict deadlines
  • Strong understanding of the Global Derivatives Regimes/Regulations for Regulatory Reporting
  • Understanding and ability to quickly lean the audit and controls within the Asset Management framework. Ability to understand and appreciate potential risk in a complex process.
  • Working knowledge of Aladdin & APEX

For New York City the estimated base salary range for this position is $68,000 to $178,000.  The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to scope of role within AVP or VP, job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
