Head of Broker & Distribution Management

About the Role
As the Head of Broker & Distribution Management, you will define and lead the U.S. distribution strategy for CorSo, driving profitable growth through disciplined broker engagement, market leadership, and close alignment with business priorities. This is a senior executive role with national scope, significant influence, and the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on how Swiss Re Corporate Solutions connects with the U.S. market. As a key member of the U.S. Market Unit Leadership Team, you will partner with underwriting, claims, operations, and business leadership to identify growth opportunities, strengthen market positioning, and translate strategic priorities into commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution Strategy & Market Leadership
- Develop and execute the U.S. distribution strategy aligned with business objectives and growth priorities
- Establish strategic plans for broker engagement, including national and regional initiatives, market development activities, and financial target planning
- Maintain deep expertise in broker strategies, market dynamics, and competitive trends to inform business decisions and resource allocation
- Partner with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into actionable, measurable distribution plans
Broker Relationship Management
- Lead and strengthen relationships with key national and regional broker partners
- Serve as senior executive sponsor for strategic broker relationships, ensuring alignment of business objectives and mutual growth opportunities
- Drive external engagement with broker leadership, including Chief Broking Officers and other senior executives
- Identify and implement initiatives that deepen relationships and enhance market presence with strategic broker partners
Growth & Commercial Execution
- Lead the distribution model across the U.S. to support profitable growth and achievement of financial targets
- Oversee pipeline development, opportunity management, and broker engagement strategies across regions and lines of business
- Foster collaboration across underwriting teams and business units to maximize market opportunities and drive business development
- Monitor and evaluate distribution performance through defined KPIs, ensuring accountability and execution against growth objectives
Data, Analytics & Business Insights
- Lead Market Connectivity Tech advancements and manage the interface with brokers
- Leverage broker data, market intelligence, and analytics to generate insights that drive strategic decision-making
- Evaluate return on investment of distribution initiatives and broker engagement activities
- Provide leadership with market trends, broker intelligence, and performance analyses to support business planning
- Utilize data-driven insights to identify emerging opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of National Broker Leaders, Regional Distribution Managers, and distribution professionals (total team size of 8)
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development opportunities for team members
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Build succession plans and organizational capabilities to support long-term business needs
Strategic Initiatives & Transformation
- Lead initiatives that enhance distribution effectiveness, broker engagement, and market execution
- Champion new ways of working, process improvements, and adoption of tools that improve commercial performance
- Support enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and ensure distribution priorities are aligned with broader organizational objectives
- Act as a key change leader, driving adoption of strategic priorities across the distribution organization
Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Partner effectively with underwriting, claims, operations, and executive leadership to align growth strategies and market priorities
- Influence senior stakeholders internally and externally to achieve business objectives
- Represent the organization at industry forums, broker events, and market engagements
- Maintain a strong industry network and serve as a trusted advisor on broker and market-related matters
About the Team
The Broker & Distribution Management team is the commercial engine that connects Swiss Re Corporate Solutions to the U.S. insurance market. Comprising National Broker Leaders and Regional Distribution Managers, the team drives broker engagement, market development, and distribution execution across the country. Working in close partnership with underwriting, claims, and business leadership, the team plays a pivotal role in shaping how CorSo grows, competes, and wins in the U.S. market.
About You
You are a seasoned distribution leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on commercial execution. You bring deep knowledge of the U.S. insurance market, a strong broker network, and a track record of building high-performing teams. You are equally comfortable engaging with senior broker executives and rolling up your sleeves to drive results. You lead with integrity, inspire those around you, and know how to navigate complex organizations to get things done.
We Are Looking for Candidates Who Meet These Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in the insurance industry, including distribution management, underwriting, and/or risk management
- Demonstrated success developing and executing distribution strategies that drive profitable growth at national and/or regional scale
- Extensive experience managing strategic broker relationships at both national and regional levels, including engagement with senior broker executives
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and influence outcomes across complex, matrixed organizations
- Strong commercial acumen with experience utilizing data and analytics to support strategic decision-making and business planning
These Are Additional Nice to Haves:
- Established industry network and credibility with key market stakeholders including Chief Broking Officers and senior broker leadership
- Experience leading or contributing to enterprise-wide transformation or change management initiatives
- Familiarity with market connectivity technology and digital broker engagement tools
- Track record of building succession pipelines and developing talent within distribution or commercial teams
- Experience representing an organization at industry forums, conferences, and external market engagements
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate and influence at the C-suite level
The estimated base salary range for this position in NYC is $200,000 to $331,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
