Investment Analyst, Private Debt

This role requires prior experience analyzing structured credit transactions (public or private) and a strong interest in credit investing, portfolio construction, and financial markets.
About the Role
As a Private Debt Investment Analyst at Swiss Re, you will play a key role in supporting and shaping the Private Debt asset class. The role offers primary exposure to public and private securitized products, specialty finance, and asset-backed lending structures, as well as broader private asset classes including infrastructure lending, commercial mortgages, and private credit.
Your responsibilities will span both strategic and operational dimensions, including the development and oversight of the long-term investment strategy and operating model. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day management of the portfolio, contributing to investment selection, portfolio steering, performance monitoring, and risk assessment. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a strong emphasis on disciplined risk management and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities also include:
- Analyze and evaluate investment opportunities across structured credit, asset-based finance, and other private markets opportunities originated via external asset managers' relationships
- Help oversee Private Debt asset managers including ongoing assessment of investment strategy as well as operational aspects
- Develop and maintain a high standard portfolio monitoring framework capturing key portfolio characteristics as well as developments in terms of returns and risk
- Drive and coordinate with key stakeholders customized reporting frameworks and presentations to relevant business units and internal committees
- Track market developments across ABS, RMBS, CMBS, consumer finance, specialty lending and other private market sectors
About You
You bring strong analytical and quantitative skills, coupled with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, international environment. In addition, your effective interpersonal and communication skills support successful collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Additional requirements include:
- College/university degree or equivalent in finance, economics, or a related field. CFA or similar qualifications are a plus
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in structured credit, securitized products or asset-based finance
- Understanding of structured finance concepts, credit analysis and securitization structures
- Advanced/Expert Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Self-motivated and driven; ability to balance multiple tasks and work effectively in a collaborative, fast moving, demanding, and dynamic environment
- Ability and willingness to travel, when required
About the Team
The Private Debt team is a diverse and global team of investment professionals located in New York, Zurich, and London part of the Private Investments unit in Swiss Re Group Asset Management. We are a core function within Swiss Re Asset Management, responsible for managing private debt portfolios for Swiss Re's own balance sheet. The team consists of dedicated specialists overseeing and transacting in Infrastructure, Commercial Mortgage, Mid-Market Loans, and Private Asset-Backed Finance across a global portfolio.
Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework or visa sponsorship.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $112,000 to $168,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
