Senior ILS Portfolio Manager

We are seeking a senior property treaty underwriter or ILS portfolio manager with underwriting experience who can support the Portfolio Management team managing a large cat bond/ILS portfolio.

 

About the Role

 

In this role you will contribute to Swiss Re Insurance Linked Investment Advisors Corporation's (SRILIAC) investment strategy through idea generation, research, prototype design, and implementation of data analytics.  In addition you will:

 

  • Support interactions with cat bond sponsors and brokers on relevant underwriting topics
  • Provide expert perspectives, risk analysis and underwriting of cat bond new issuance
  • Support investor relations activities by providing analysis and insights

 

This role is based in our New York City office and reports to the Head Portfolio Management of SRILIAC.

Additional requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor's degree required (ideally in an analytical discipline such as mathematics or engineering or meteorology)
  • 5+ years of work experience in Underwriting and/or ILS portfolio management or catastrophe modelling with underwriting experience.
  • Profound end-to-end underwriting expertise spanning exposure assessment, modelling, costing, reinsurance coverage, contracts drafting
  • Excellent understanding of US Property re/insurance market
  • Experience working within asset/fund management is a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity or experience with data analytics tools and relational database management (for example Python, Power BI, SQL)
  • Exceptional analytical, attention to detail and organizational skills and outstanding written and verbal communication skills

The SRILIAC Portfolio Management team manages an ILS portfolio with focus on cat bonds. The team is the investment team of a US-based Swiss Re investment advisor (SRILIAC) which is part of the broader Swiss Re Alternative Capital Partners Group which also structures, originates, and distributes Insurance-Linked Securities. ILS is a rapidly developing area where insurance and finance converge. The SRILIAC Portfolio Management team works in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment focusing on risk analysis, trading and portfolio management.
