Property Treaty Underwriter (m/f/x/d, Hybrid)

We are looking for YOU - an open minded, self-motivated, and business savvy Property Treaty Underwriter to join our Treaty underwriting team in Paris!

About the Role 


As our Property Treaty Underwriter, you will work right in the heart of our business, interacting daily with diverse teams across the company that assist in the underwriting value chain. 

You will play a critical role in assessing risks, evaluating reinsurance applications, and contributing to the profitability of our organization. 

 

•    Assess complex treaties from both a quantitative and a qualitative perspective and deliver business insights based on formal, quantitative analyses.
•    Develop actuarial costings based on data available and combining this with external factors and trends.
•    Proactively source new reinsurance opportunities and optimize existing programs, in collaboration with the Client Managers.
•    Understand clients' needs, motivations, and priorities as well as risk and capital drivers and align with company´s strengths in order to develop win- win solutions, using the full range of Swiss Re capabilities.Take underwriting decisions in line with guidelines and best practices.
•    Contribute to the development and implementation of holistic client strategies and action plans. 
•    Collaborate with brokers, clients, and other internal stakeholders to gather additional information and clarify policy details.
•    Stay ahead: anticipate and analyze future industry/economic/legal trends and contribute to (re)insurance product development as well as overall Swiss Re's Property positioning.

 

About the Team 


We are part of Swiss Re's Reinsurance Property Treaty Underwriting Unit working closely with our other underwriting units, transactions team and various other business functions. We are a multi-national team of around 13 operating out of London, Luxembourg, Munich, Paris and Zurich and with a wide variety of cultural and professional backgrounds.
Our work ranges from underwriting and pricing specific reinsurance transaction to managing the overall Property portfolio as well as shaping Swiss Re´s reinsurance market positioning on Property.

Moreover, you bring these qualifications:

•    Master's Degree in mathematics, statistics, data analysis, actuarial science, finance, economics or equivalent working experience.
•    5+ years of experience in underwriting, pricing, or any other relevant function in the (Re)insurance industry; including experience in Property. Knowledge of the French (Re)insurance market advantageous.
•    Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and high attention to detail.
•    Strong in communication and high confidence to work with clients, brokers, and senior colleagues.
•    Financial knowledge, academic or practical knowledge of concepts of law would be a plus.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive and collaborative attitude
•    Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative, takes accountability and is a fast learner
•    French first language is a must. Excellent oral and written English skills; additional language skills advantageous.
•    Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

 

For France, the base salary range for this position is between 58,000 EUR  and EUR 86,000  for a full-time role.

The specific salary offered considers:

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience. In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
