Position summary:

 

Swiss Re iptiQ Americas is looking for bright students who are actively pursuing a career in the actuarial sciences.  Our summer internship program is designed to provide students with work assignments and projects that are challenging, educational and promote personal and professional development.

 

Essential Responsibilities May Include Subsets of the Following:

           

  • Responsible for testing mortality or morbidity table updates
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation and analysis of mortality, morbidity and lapse experience data and periodic studies
  • Responsible for supporting quarterly valuations and earnings analysis
  • Responsible for supporting the maintenance of the reserve valuation system

 

Ancillary Responsibilities     

  • Responsible for compliance with the provisions of the Actuarial Development Program, including participation in student luncheons and other educational opportunities
  • Develop technical skills with software and systems such as Visual Basic, SQL, R, SAS, FoxPro, AXIS and ALFA.
  • Responsible for assisting in responses to requests of clients, reinsurance partners, regulators, internal and external auditors, and rating agencies

 

Requirements

  • Requires attention to detail, good organization skills, and the ability to work independently
  • Pursuit of degree in math or actuarial sciences with a GPA above 3.5.
  • Prefer initiation of Society of Actuaries exams
  • Technical skills using a desktop PC, Excel and Access, and R
