This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of actuarial pricing, business intelligence, and data analytics in the Agro line of business. While preference is given to students in Actuarial Sciences, we welcome strong applicants from other quantitative disciplines eager to apply programming and analytical skills in a real business environment.
About the Role:
You would be working closely with pricing actuaries in Agro, developing costing and pricing for retail and bespoke products. This includes getting familiar with business intelligence and market intelligence for solid data-driven decisions, making sure that the proposed pricing is aligned with the team's financial KPIs. The role requires both hands-on coding and data manipulation as well as communication of results to stakeholders. Since you would be dealing with huge amounts of data, sound governance and attention to strict guidelines are critical.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the business intelligence and market intelligence landscape, ensuring that the most up-to-date data is available for decision-making.
- Participate in maintaining databases and data pipelines, generate and validate reports for portfolio management and steering purposes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of statistical costing models, with focus on accuracy, explainability, and documentation.
- Support the preparation and execution of portfolio steering activities, including analysis of performance trends, reporting packages, and executive briefings.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication of technical results and actionable insights.
About the Team:
We are a small team of seasoned professionals supporting the leadership and underwriting colleagues in delivering on the core mandates of the Agro line of business. Together, we hold expertise in actuarial pricing, underwriting, data analytics, strategic management, market intelligence, and financial modeling.
About You:
As a natural critical thinker, you're comfortable in proactively finding new – more efficient – ways of delivering on your objectives, primarily independently. You have a solid quantitative background and interest in the business landscape, with a curious mind. You are open to engage with colleagues to communicate in person, in writing, and in online meetings.
Essentials:
- University student in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Meteorology, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent. Graduation expected in 2027 or after.
- Advanced English
- Strong analytical and logical reasoning to solve problems
- Proficiency in R or Python
- Proficiency in Excel
- Curiosity and eagerness to explore new ideas, tools, and methods to improve processes and decision-making
- Ability to adapt to change, take proactive ownership and responsibility, manage tasks, and meet deadlines
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of Power BI and SQL
- Knowledge of Finance or Macroeconomy
- Knowledge of IFRS17 or other accounting standards
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a work environment where new relationships and projects constantly emerge
