We're seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance function for Swiss Re’s Corporate Solutions and Reinsurance entities in Brazil, while taking on additional carrier management responsibilities across Latin America.

About the Role

In this pivotal leadership position, you will be responsible for financial stewardship and strategic decision-making across Swiss Re’s Insurance (Corporate Solutions) and Reinsurance operations in Brazil. Corporate Solutions focuses on delivering bespoke commercial insurance solutions to complex corporate risks, while the reinsurance business partners with primary insurers to support risk absorption and capital efficiency.

Combining these two worlds, the role offers an end-to-end view of the risk value chain, from primary insurance to reinsurance. In parallel, you will extend your influence across Latin America through carrier management responsibilities, helping shape partner strategies, governance, and financial performance across the region.

You will balance strong financial oversight with proactive business partnership, ensuring operations are financially robust, well-capitalised, and strategically positioned for sustainable growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead and develop the local finance team, overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in accordance with Swiss Re Group and local entity procedures
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive board reporting for both local and global stakeholders
  • Manage talent development and establish a performance-driven culture within the finance function
  • Oversee legal entity structures while maintaining statutory capital within target limits and ensuring appropriate dividends/debt repayment
  • Direct cash flow management and address liquidity needs across all legal entities
  • Implement cost management initiatives and financial controls with appropriate monitoring systems
  • Drive Finance Transformation, automation and legacy system decommissioning projects for Brazil and the region

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as key business partner to all stakeholders, including joint venture partners and legal entity Boards
  • Provide financial analysis to support sound strategic business decisions
  • Support growth initiatives by delivering financial insights and recommendations
  • Monitor macroeconomic developments across the region to identify risks and opportunities
  • Influence regulatory discussions and assess potential impacts on legal entities and market opportunities
  • Review accounting requirements and financial implications for complex insurance and reinsurance structures, including structured deals and international programs
  • Drive strategic initiatives including International Programs and other key corporate priorities

Compliance & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with Tax Department to ensure appropriate tax planning, timely compliance, and effective risk management
  • Liaise with auditors and other relevant stakeholders to maintain transparent financial operations
  • Support rating agency communications and investor relations activities

The Finance team in Brazil is responsible for ensuring financial stability and strategic growth for our operations in one of Latin America's most important markets. Working closely with business leaders and global finance teams, we provide critical financial insights that drive business decisions while maintaining robust financial controls and regulatory compliance. Our collaborative approach and commitment to excellence make us valued partners across the organization.

Additionally, the role also includes the managerial oversight and development of the Finance teams in Mexico and Colombia, creating opportunities to shape financial strategy across multiple Latin American markets.

 

About You

You are a strategic finance leader with exceptional business acumen and a track record of driving financial excellence in complex organizations. Your ability to balance detailed financial oversight with big-picture strategic thinking sets you apart. You thrive in collaborative environments where you can influence stakeholders at all levels, and you're passionate about developing talent and building high-performing teams.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Brazilian Certified Public Accountant or similar qualification/Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, including carrier/legal entity management
  • In-depth knowledge of SUSEP regulatory frameworks, reporting requirements, and accounting standards (local regulatory, US GAAP, IFRS, and Economic Value)
  • Proven track record in preparing and executing financial strategic plans that drive business growth
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to develop high-performing teams and navigate transformation
  • Strategic mindset with ability to translate business initiatives into financial strategies and monitor industry trends
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with strong executive presence
  • Technology and AI acumen to support finance transformation initiatives
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese (Spanish is a plus)
