Casualty Underwriter

About the Role
Support the Casualty underwriting team in delivering sustainable portfolio growth through sound underwriting practices, data-driven insights, process optimization, and the adoption of digital solutions.
- Underwrite and manage Casualty accounts within delegated authority, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and profitability targets.
- Analyze risk information, exposures, loss experience, and coverage requirements to support underwriting decisions and portfolio management.
- Contribute to portfolio monitoring through the development and maintenance of management reports, dashboards, and performance analyses using tools such as Power BI, Excel, and other analytical platforms.
- Collaborate with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to structure insurance solutions and ensure high service standards throughout the underwriting process.
- Identify opportunities to improve underwriting controls, operational processes, and data quality, contributing to greater efficiency and governance.
- Support the automation of underwriting workflows, reporting routines, and data management processes to enhance productivity and decision-making.
- Explore and leverage artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and digital tools to optimize underwriting activities, portfolio analysis, and business insights.
- Participate in testing, implementation, and continuous enhancement of underwriting systems, tools, and data quality initiatives related to the Casualty portfolio.
- Work closely with Product, Risk Engineering, Claims, Operations, and Data teams to support portfolio development and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the Casualty underwriting team.

The Casualty Underwriting team is responsible for underwriting and managing General Liability and specialized Casualty risks for corporate clients across a diverse range of industries. We focus on delivering sustainable and profitable growth through disciplined underwriting, technical excellence, and a strong understanding of clients' risk exposures.
Working closely with brokers, clients, Risk Engineering, Claims, and other internal stakeholders, the team develops tailored insurance solutions that address complex liability risks while maintaining portfolio profitability and underwriting rigor.

About You
- We are looking for a motivated and collaborative underwriting professional with strong analytical skills, a customer-centric mindset, and the ability to balance technical rigor with commercial thinking.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Law, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably within Commercial Insurance, Casualty / Liability.
- Relevant experience in Commercial Insurance, preferably in Casualty, Liability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Solid understanding of underwriting principles, portfolio management, and risk analysis.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including brokers, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Interest in data-driven decision making, portfolio analytics, and continuous process improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Power BI, data visualization, or analytical tools is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with digital solutions, automation tools, and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence applications, is a plus.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Self-driven, proactive, and team-oriented mindset with a continuous learning attitude.
- Professional proficiency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience underwriting Casualty risks in the Brazilian market.
- Knowledge of liability insurance products, policy wordings, and reinsurance structures.
- Experience with portfolio monitoring, underwriting governance, and data quality initiatives.
- Exposure to process automation, advanced analytics, or AI-driven underwriting solutions.
