Marine Cargo Underwriter
You will work in one of the most strategic business lines in the insurance market, contributing to the development and profitability of the Marine Cargo portfolio. In partnership with brokers, clients, and internal areas, you will be responsible for assessing complex risks, structuring insurance solutions, and supporting the sustainable growth of the business. The professional will play a relevant role in strengthening market relationships, product evolution, and the dissemination of technical knowledge within the team.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze, assess, and underwrite Marine Cargo risks, ensuring a balance between growth, profitability, and exposure management.
- Develop and negotiate insurance solutions aligned with the needs of clients and brokers.
- Work together with Commercial, Distribution, Claims, Finance, Operations, and strategic partners to drive business results.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying growth opportunities, technical improvements, and process optimization.
- Support product development initiatives, wordings, and tools that promote innovation and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and conduct technical training for brokers, commercial partners, and internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, local regulations, and insurance market best practices.
- Act as a technical reference for topics related to the Transportation segment, sharing knowledge and supporting team development.
Desired requirements
- Experience in underwriting Transportation insurance (Marine Cargo).
- Knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance market.
- Analytical skills, business acumen, and negotiation ability.
- Intermediate or advanced English will be considered a plus.
- Knowledge or experience in Marine Hull insurance will be considered a plus.

Essential requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Trade, Law, or related fields.
- Proven experience in underwriting Transportation insurance (Marine Cargo).
- Knowledge of domestic and international transportation risks, portfolio management, and pricing techniques.
- Critical analysis, negotiation skills, and the ability to develop relationships with brokers and clients.
- Advanced English.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
Desired differentiators
- Experience or knowledge in Marine Hull insurance.
- Postgraduate degree, MBA, or specialization in Insurance, Risk Management, International Trade, Logistics, Finance, or related areas.
- Knowledge of reinsurance and international programs.
- Experience in product development and solutions for the Marine segment.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools, performance indicators, and portfolio management.
- Spanish will be considered a plus.
