P&C Treaty Underwriting Coordinator

This position is based in São Paulo and follows a hybrid work model (60% office, 40% remote).

About the Role

As a Senior P&C Treaty Underwriting Coordinator, you will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in service business tools, good knowledge of UW tools, data governance, and operational processes for the Property & Casualty Treaty business. You will bridge the gap between operational execution and strategic leadership, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and innovation in underwriting support.

You could mentor junior coordinators, lead process improvement initiatives, and partner with underwriters to enable accurate and timely deal execution. Your role is critical in ensuring data integrity, system optimization, and alignment with global standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing P&C new and renewal processes, including contract clause reviews and comparisons, managing communication with clients and structuring new and renewal contracts
  • Serve as expert in P&C Treaty underwriting tools and systems providing support to our treaty underwriter for non-client-facing activities (e.g., deal capture platforms, pricing tools, reporting dashboards).
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and audit controls.
  • Handling complex operational deals and solved issues by providing solutions.
  • Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Support underwriters with technical guidance on system usage and data interpretation and contract review and comparison, including referring changes in the contract back to the treaty Underwriter. Needs to be able to read contracts and make basic extrapolations as to how they should be entered into our various systems
  • Collaborate with IT, Finance, Claims, and other functions to ensure seamless integration of underwriting data.
  • Prepare and deliver training sessions on tools, processes, and best practices.

 

About the Team

You will be part of the Reinsurance Business Operations team, supporting the LATAM  P&C Treaty Underwriting unit. Our team spans multiple geographies (Mexico, Brazil, Andina region , South Cone , Central America, Caribbean) and works closely with global colleagues to deliver operational excellence,  innovation  and provides a high level of service to our clients.
The role will report to the Business Services Team Leader responsible for this department.

 

About You

You are a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for process optimization. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are recognized as a technical expert in your domain.

 

Essentials:

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a quantitative field (Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences).
  • 3+-5 years of experience in (Re)insurance operations, underwriting support, or related roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint) and comfort with large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of P&C Treaty underwriting processes and systems and (Re)insurance knowledge
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • A strong customer focus and service orientation

 

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience leading process improvement projects or system implementations.
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., VBA, Power Automate) or data analytics platforms.
  • Knowledge of NatCat data and exposure to actuarial or pricing concepts.
