This individual manages a team of claims handlers and experts in Brazil. Responsible for team performance, continuously raising the bar on technical excellence. Ensures all the claims are properly allocated across the team and decision making is handled effectively and that the proper controls are in place. Accountable for mantaining technical excellence and driving strong commercial results and KPIs across all Claim teams in their area, fostering a customer centric mindset in your team. Successfully promotes the use of data and collaboration with risk specialists to enable the team to pro-actively provide risk and loss prevention advices to your customers while instilling the adoption of digital and tech-driven solutions.

 

Main Responsaibilities

  • Drive our strategy around Claims Management, Portfolio Management and cross-functional engagement;
  • Mantain a customer-centric mindset and handling claims cases to control claims risk, reduce claims Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders;
  • Successfully lead, manage, develop and coach team members. Assist team members in developing claim handling and customer service skills and desired behaviors and in delivering high quality claim handling and customer service. Ensure that the team understands and follows Corporate Solutions Claim Commitment, Claim Handling Expectations and SoPs;
  • Maintain diary on team claims and proactively review claim progress to ensure appropriate claim handling and to provide appropriate and timely management, coaching and assistance to claim handlers;
  • Ensure timely and appropriate claim file reserves consistent with CorSo Claims' reserve timeliness expectations;
  • Conduct regular Quality Assurance File Reviews and use results to assist with claim handler development and performance management Proactive dormant and off-diary claim management;
  • Assist team members to identify and properly evaluate and handle subrogation and claim recovery, where applicable;
  • Assist team members tto understand and identify claim fraud indicators and work with CorSo Claims SIU unit, as needed, to report and combat potential fraudulent claims;
  • Promote the identification and sharing of actionable claims insights and lessons learned via Underwriting Alerts and other means and encourage the sharing of claims trends and emerging risks with internal Stakeholders;
  • Ensure the team is assisting Underwriting and others with contractual wording and risk assessments;
  • Keep Claims Management and Internal Stakeholders aware of loss potential and material claim developments, consistent with Claims Handling Expectations and SoP's. Ensure that team is sharing knowledge and raising CorSo Claims profile through internal and external presentations, and publishing articles on claims, emerging risks, legal, regulatory, societal developments and other industry topics;
  • Understand and properly use Claims Key Performance Indicators and other data to monitor performance, manage team and for reporting;
  • Proactive performance management, including regular communication and performance feedback with team members;
  • Understand team members' career goals and aspirations and assist with career development and progression;

 

Job Requirements

University degree preferably in Engineering, Insurance, Law, Business Administration, Actuary

  • A minimum 10 years' experience in the insurance / Reinsurance industry, with experience in Claims management (loss Adjuster) technical insurance field or underwriting activities Property, Casualty, Special Risks, Agro.

 

  • Significant awareness of market and portfolio dynamics, including ability to anticipate and mitigate potential risks & opportunities.
  • Numeracy & analytical capabilities to consider data, identify anomalies and use information to develop action plans.
  • Recognised leadership qualities and abilities, including ability to build inclusive relationships with clients' Claims teams.
  • Substantial collaboration capabilitiesm, including actively fostering cross-functional teamwork.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the insurance/reinsurance industry and knowledge of the main products and services offered by Swiss Re, its competitors and clients.
  • Significant technical claims expertise demonstrated through peer recognition of capabilities in a technical role.
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. Outlook/Word/Excel/Power Point) are a must.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, influencing and presentation skills with capacity of interacting with the highest level of claim and legal officers in client companies and senior management of Swiss Re.
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Result oriented with strong focus on performance, targets and risk management
  • Pro-active business oriented approach; understand customer's needs and challenges and actively provide solutions
  • Strong business acumen and result orientation

  • Languages: Fluent in English and Portuguese; Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
